line up the two marks on the cam sprockets(the sprockets should be marked up. then line up the crank mark with the arrow or temporary install lower front cover and balancer and line up white(not red) line up the timing mark on front cover.

If your #1 piston is at TDC, then look down at your crank pulley and you will see a white mark to the right of the three timing marks on the pulley. You want to line this up with the lower cover pointer or the oil pump timing mark.

Look at this thread and look at the pulley picture that shows the lines on the pulley.

You want two line up the white line with the pointer while setting the timing belt and cams, and you want to use the other 3 marks when setting ignition timing with a timing gun (that's what the link is about, ignition timing).

Another tip is you use a bright light to see the marks and the pointer, makes it easy.

ok now i have the crank at TDC lined up with the oil pump mark and the cam sprockets are lined up but when the white lines are pointing at each other my intake cam is not pointing up its a little off. my timing belt also seems to be loose, like itll get tight when i hand crank it then loosen up and skip a tooth, wrong belt maybe? bad tensioner? i dunno

What you describe is normal. As the crank turns, the valve spring cycle and compression distributes tension on and off, so the tension against the belt isn't constant while turning the crank counter clockwise. The belt should be snug all the time tho.

After you line everything up, you start by placing the belt on the exhaust cam first pulling the belt taunt, then over the intake cam. If everything is in good alignment still, turn the crank pulley bolt just barely counter clockwise, (3 cam teeth) and you will feel tight tension. That is when you want to loosen and then retighten the tensioner, and the tension should be set.

Now continue turning the crank pulley bolt counter clockwise until the cams are up again and check against the crank white mark again for proper alignment. The belt should be tensioned properly. If it is still too loose, you have to turn the crank pulley bolt CC again about 3 teeth on the cam gears, till its taunt again. Then loosen the tensionor bolt and try to move the tensionor manually to apply tension, then retighten. I have never had my tensionor require this tho, but others have. Hope this helps you.
