ACT or Exedy Clutch on All Motor GSR.....wat would be better???
Like the post says, I need to get a clutch for my 97 GSR...I plan to build the motor this winter, but I need the clutch now. Problem is, I cant decide on wether to get an ACT or Exedy clutch. I get various opinions from most people around here and it still doesn't help me decide, mainly cuz people have only owned either or. My pla is to hit th 250 whp mark out of my B18C1, but if I can hit in between 215-230 whp, I'll be happy. I just want to know what most of you recommend I choose.
My main concerns are drivability and whether or not it can handle hard launches and daily driving.
So please help, thanx.

Why do you choose Exedy?

Everyone I have spoken to has pointed me towards the Exedy. For the NA applications the stage 1 Exedy was highly recommended as well as the Exedy lightened flywheel.

where they the ones selling the clutches? i found on my search for a clutch that EVERYONE was pushing the Exedy clutch. my bet is that the profit is way higher on the Exedy... not saying its not a good clutch...
my vote is ACT... i have had 3 of them, all different motors... EVERY one of them was put threw some brutal punishment... i love the XTSS... full face clutch that can hold the power (like 320whp turbo B-series)... i have had an XTSS on a turbo D-series and a turbo B-series that went threw 6 plus sets of tires between the two motors... lots of racing, burnouts, tire spin threw second... with all that holding power it still is VERY streetable, not 'bearable' it is something your gf can drive without trouble.
so my vote is for an ACT XTSS...will hold all the NA power you can throw at it (up to 270ft tq)...
all that being said yes i have owned Exedy clutches, never bought one, they have been on motors/cars that i have bought. neither of the two have been on cars that made any decent power, and neither have inspired the confidence that the ACTs have..

ACT.. because i drove one and it feel tight!dont kno which one model but it was hella hard to drive when i first hop on it
have an act hdss kit in my dc and was very happy with it. i had an act kit in by ls/vtec swapped ek and needed a new clutch so got an exedy kit to try it out. the exedy kit was definately softer than the act kit, and was pretty good on the street. but i changed out the pressure plate with an act hdss kit and its worked out pretty good so far. id say i prefer the act kit .

No, actually a friend of mine used to run an all motor car and moved up to a turbo car and had very good things to say about them. I also talked to BlueR from the ITR forum and he recommended as well.
But then some guys like ******* fat girls, some like ******* skinny girls...I guess its all in what you like???

I had an Exedy Stage 1 before I went Turbo and Loved it.
And After Turbo, the Exedy didn't.(Slippery like a wet hooker)
I now have a ClutchNet 4 Puck Unspung DD

Well, after talking to a performance engine builder in my area...the goal I had of 250 whp is not going to materialize unless I sleeve and bore-out to 85 mm according to him.....He told me that with the set up i wanna run, i should get about 205-220 whp...I would be more than happy with that.....now I have decided to run the Exedy clutch...i figured, why not try the Exedy considering I had an ACT 2 years ago in my old DA....Question is, would I be fine with a stg 1 or should i go for a stg 2 clutch?

I'm not positive but I think Stage one would be sufficent unless your going to drive it hard everytime.
And 220whp will be fast as hell.
