Default Need help

Whats up guys I am a nissan guy so I dont know too much about honda's. So I bought a stock 1991 crx. It has a few problems Im hoping you guys can help me find out. Fist problem Is electrical, The people told me it was the altinator because it had to be jummped everytime to start. well its not, the battery was dead so I bought another one, tried to start it. didnt work and it clicked near the climate controll. I gave up on the electrical so I brought it to a shop to be fixed.

Now the real problem is it runs like craaaaap. When I start out it sounds like a wrx then ill hit it, itll go really slow and all of the sudden a burst of power. felt like vtec on steroids. when it idles it idles real low and and then itll act like it wants to stall and it will get back up. It sucks. I know you dont have to be new to hondas to know these things. im just wondering are these common problems you get? I never had problems with my old se-r SR20DE+T

Oh its a stock 5sp 1991 dpfi crx. not sure what trim or anything. not sure wich engine is in it so yeah, thanks in advance!

oh man. you got no big issue here.

I am gonna jump and say it is the Electronic Idle Adjustment Controll Valve (thing that sits behind the Intake Manifold. on the back side)

I am pretty posetive based on the symptoms that you discribed it is a bad IACV (40 bucks at any salvage yard) and yes they go bad.

the alternator and batter. is most likely do to a bad connection between the alternator and battery.

Simple test will solve that.

Turn the car on. wait 20 seconds. disconnect the posetive battery cable. if the car stays on. you have a good alt and you need to cheack the connections and clean them. if the car dies it is a bad alternator.

as for the engine model.
if you look on the left lower side on a flat stamp.
pop the hood. look under where the Upper Radiator hose goes to the head.
about 8 inches or so below that. there is stamp. it might be dirty...

u may have a plug wire ccrossed? if it sound like boxer4 .are u throwing any cel?we need more info what what kinda probs your having?go to autozone buy new batt and alt. your good to go.
