Ok...I'm getting everything together to leave for my trip to Memphis to get a 2001 s2000 in Yellow-on-Black. Looks to be about 1k miles each way, but I will be stopping over in Gatlinburg to run through the smokey mountains on the way back. Got the digital camera and going to grab a video camera before I leave to document this trip...wish me luck!

Congrats!
Tennessee has a ton of great mountain roads. Check out the Tail of the Dragon sometime (http://www.tailofthedragon.com/; 318 turns in 11 miles). Winter is probably not the safest time of the year to push hard on mountain roads though, so take care (especially if you aren't familiar with the S2k's tail-happy handling).
If this is your first S2k, make sure your tire pressures are good for the trip...the car gets very squirrely if one tire is low.
Come post on the Florida forum in S2ki.com...great group. And we make a pilgrimage to the Dragon twice a year.
Have fun

Thanks for the suggestions and tips...we got a late start at around 5:30pm today and plan to drive straight through till we get there.
I am actually familiar with the over-steering nature of these cars...almost 2 years ago my wife and I test drove an 06' and obviously the salesman couldn't go with us, so at a quiet intersection I went to drift the rear end around the turn...would've work just fine however I forgot to tell my wife what I was about to do, which led to her shouting more obscenities in 5 seconds than I had ever heard from her!! This distraction led me to believe that she was aware of something that I was not...such as possibly crashing, so I (we) end up doing a 180 spin-out...quite a moment. She's asked for me to provide sufficient warning before I do things like that in the future!!
How far out of my way is the TOD from Gatlinburg, TN? I'm checking out the site now.

BTW...I'm able to write this as I travel since I set my cell phone as a modem and am using GPRS through Cingular's "unlimited" plan with it connected through to USB...much less boring!!
Plus the service can be pro-rated so I am basically only paying for the time that I am using it.

ToD is about 50mi west of Gatlinburg...you will pass by the north start point to get to Gatlinburg.
Happy Valley, TN just south of Maryville, TN is the north end...Fontana, NC is the south.
Definitely a spot for any driving enthusiast. Just remember to NEVER cross the double yellow lines for any reason...too many blind corners.
enjoy your trip!

Yeah, it's 12:50am and we recently just passed UNADILLA (that's what it said) in Georgia. I've had plenty of time to look for ToD. I think that I'm going to stick to my original route through GSM's 441 after a short run through Cade's Cove for some other activities I have planned.
I'll save the run through ToD for another time with other s2k peoples.

Definitely make plans for it! We will be going in April for Wake the Dragon. The Florida crew always has a big caravan going.
Last Dragon event had over 150 s2ks show up.

Wow...absolute WOW!! It's not as pristine as I expected, but when I testdrove an 06' model a year ago, I was so disappointed in the torque it had...perhaps it wasn't broken in yet? Regardless I was prepared to be even more unimpressed with the F20c.....but at 100k+ miles, this thing runs like a pit bull on roids!! I am so happy with how it pulls os strongly!! I'll post pics and the hilarious details shortly.

Ok...now that I have a moment to explain the story a little, here we go:
We only taped the front end of the Scion that I traded in due to time constraints, so at 5:20pm we left on our way. Stopped at an exit that I don't even recall which state we were in, (either GA or AL), and found a SUMMIT RACING RETAIL STORE.

...so I'm trying to sleep and suddenly I here Mike say: "What the HELL????" So I look up and notice something strange all over the front window...he had hit the wipers and sprayer to clean the bugs off the glass and the water ended up freezing instantly after hitting the below freezing glass!!

...so let's pull over and I'll squeegee the ice off it or something....NOPE!! Florida boys had a lot to learn!!

The water in the buckets are all iced up!! Apparently this happes when it's below 32F!!

...bunch more photos are on the other camrea I'll be getting tonight, meaning while, here's a few from the hotel are getting the car @ 5:30pm and hauling to Gatlingburg, TN till 3am!! That drive was about twice as long as we expected!!

...my current desktop:

...refueling with Red Bull 12oz and No Doze for the last few hours to South Florida

Florida gas station humor!!

I do say ol' chap, the backpressure provided from the ice increased the torque very much so indeed!

...Unicorns do exist!!

It's not in toooo bad of shape...up close it looks kida like someone took a pressure washer and waved it all around, but that's just me being picky about it. The latches don't seem to hold the roof tight enough to the seals, cause above 80mph you can't hear anything else unless you pull it down tight...what is the fix for this? Switch to the hard-top latches I think? Or is there an adjustment for it?

Agreed...latch metal was changed in 03 to a harder alloy. Get a new set and install on the windshield frame.
