17's are for an RSX.

I'd first decide what tires I wanted. Then, get the wheels that you'd need to run those tires.

I could run 235-width tires most easily on 17" rims; other EP's have 235/40-17's.

I currently have 205/50-16's on the car and 215/45-16 Azenis on another set of wheels for summer & autocross.

If I wanted to get DOT R-compound tires, I wouldn't use 17's, and maybe not 16's -- I'd get 15" rims and 225/50-15 Hoosiers or something like that.

As far as style goes, they all look fine to me, although going too big (18+) make it look like you have no brakes. Big wheels look best when they're filled with big brakes, IMO.

if i have to decide what tires i want... which one would be the best for 16' and 17'? i used to have 205/40/17 on my car, but i already have to get 3 tires within the past half a year or 9 months, living in chicago is a pain in the as* for low profile tires. so what would you guys suggest??

Just a quick question about tire size choices: for those running 205/50/16's, why not go with 215 or even 225's? I'm guessing it has to do with the limited tire choices available in those sizes? I currently have 215/45/17's on my EP, and I'm considering going down to 16's in the near future, just trying to figure out what tire size would work best; I've seen a few choices in the 215/50/16 size, I'm thinking they would be the best choice? Thanks...

For 02-03's, there aren't many 16" sizes that are similar to the stock 195/60-15 diameter. 205/50 is quite common and an exact circumference match, but finding anything wider will pretty much force you into taller or smaller tires.

What kind of car are they going on etc? If its an Ep3 the stock size is 195/60/15 You could do a 205/55/15

215's should be alright on a 6.5" wheel -- I was running some 215/45-16 Azenis RT-215's on stock RSX rims.

I thought the stock 16's were 16x7 though. Which is a little different than running 215's on a 15x6.5

Nah, the stock RSX 02-04 rims are 16 x 6.5. I bought the tires used from a Subaru driver who was using them on his 6" wide stockies with no problems, too.

Each tire and tire size probably has slightly different official width recommendations, but you can fudge them a bit, too.
