HF head swap? will it help?
okay so i have a chance to get another (8th rex) crx that is an hf but ti lacks power (obviously) but gets mad gas mileage. Is the lack of power because the head has only 8 valves/valvetrain or is it the ecu or a combination. Is the bottom end capable enough to do a mini me on it with decent results? it is a lot of questions I know but i really like this car. i might buy it just for the Gas mileage alone. thanks
If the motor is still good, just leave it as is and use it to save gas. I know our gas prices are slowly coming down, but it's still probably the highest in the nation. I even purposely put a CX tranny in my EG just to get better mileage.
if i remember correctly, the hf head is only an 8 valve head, which means you have to change the pistons if you go to a 16 valve head, because there are only reliefs for 2 valves on the piston dome instead of 4 reliefs. i could be wrong because i have never had the opportunity to do it, but i think i read that somewhere on here before.
