Having trouble removing driver side axle
I am having trouble removing the lca from the balljoint, i dont have access to a flat-handled ratchet to jack it up and wedge in between the two pieces, ive been hammering forever with a 2-3 pound sledge but making no progress, and i don't have access to a balljoint puller or whatever that tool is called.
I am using this thread to help me https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=382416 but i cant see any of the pictures, I am using a chiltons and a haynes also.
Can someone please tell me exactly where i need to be hammering, I have tried hammering where the damper fork bolts to the lca and hammering on the two stubs where the balljoint puller's arms are supposed to push against, have tried with the rotor jacked up at different heights too.
Running out of ideas and time, i have to be at work friday morning and work through the weekend, and I start school Monday.
Thanks in advance.

There is also a little vid to watch, but its real simple and works like a charm.
Edit - didn't realize you said you don't have the right jack. Sorry

Well its not that i dont have the right jack, I don't have the right type of ratchet to wedge in there, only flat handled ratchet i have is a 1/4 and thats way too small

So you don't have anything around the garage, tool box or house to use as a substitute. Pull some MacGyver ****.

Do you have one of those forks to split a balljoint?
Use that on the upper control-arm if you can't get the LCA off,
You can get the axle out through there also.

But if you can get your hands on one of them, you can separate the UCA with it.

If you have an air compressor, use an air hammer with a flat face hammer fitting and hammer around the lower control arm...not the ball joint itself, but around it....it will vibrate loose and pop out in seconds! works like a charm!
Done this to all the cars i worked on!

what i do is hold the axle straight and hit the other end with a hammer and it should pop in.

i dont see a need removing upper balljoint.
-the way i done it.
-disconnect lower balljoint (i used crowbar
)
-move all assembly to the side where the steering connected to it
while moving it push on the axle from the outer end and it will slide out easy
-take off shock fork, leave the shock alone
-pop the alxe from transmission
-take out the axle
-install a new one
-reassemble everything back in place
-done
takes about 20-30 mins each side

jam that thing in there! i think the reason youre having trouble is that loose ring at the end of the spindle.. it might be sticking out too much..
what i did was take this ring off, bend it closed a just a *tiny* bit more, then put it back on. then the axle went in easier..
don't squeeze the ring closed too much though! it needs to stick out some to keep the axle from popping out easy.

The reason he made the thread, was because he couldn't separate the LCA.

Finally got that bitch in there, to get in i just whacked the end with a rubber mallet and it went in no prob, i was reluctant at first but said expletive it, if something breaks I'll go bitch out autozone till they hook me up with a new one.
but i tightened up the fork to the lca and tightened up the hub nut but forgot to stick the balljoint through the LCA, ended up ripping the balljoint boot wide open, probally gonna replace that next week
