Nope, the LS tranny has longer gearing compared to other B series trannies.

Use the drop down down box to select the tranny, and try searching as well.

The LS trans has the longest gears out of all B series the b16 has the shortest.

the ls does have longer gears and another point you should think of is that the b16 does not have alot of torque so ur car will lag

Whats grinding your b16 tranny?

If so you can:
1. Rebuild it
2. Get another tranny (jdm itr, itr, b16, gsr, ls)
Edit - 3. Avoid shifting at higher 3rd gear rpms
I would go with a rebuild because you won't have to worry about the condition, unlike buying a used one where someone could be lying to you about its condition.

Depends on how extensive of a rebuild you make it.

It makes a difference when it comes to how extensive of a rebuild you want to make it.

Replace the just the bad syncros or all? OEM or carbon coated (look into gearspeed)
Check the shift forks and possibly replace them.
Depending on the setup and intended use of the car shorter gears.

Some people replace what is just necessary, some take it a step further. Then there are people like me who figure that if i am wasting time to drop the tranny and take it apart I will do a complete overhaul so I don't have to worry about anything.

Also, some people change out to a different final drive; 4.7 4.9

Honestly, if your thinking about rebulding whether you do it yourself or take it to someone, you have a lot of searching and researching to do. You also need to figure out your budget.

I have not done this myself yet, but had a friend who just did a rebuild on his ITR tranny and he said it wasn't that bad.

Make sure you have the helm's, and the right tools, it will make a world of a difference.

And there are some very good people on this site that are helpful when it comes to trannies. Check out and search in the Tech/Misc forum. Bense, RTW DC2R, Gearspeed Ef7, and Black R are some that come to mind and frequent that forum.

Edit - Also other things to look into when rebuilding is: bearings, syncros, syncro sleeves, shift forks. And I am sure there are more things to do when you tear the tranny apart .

Hasport Kits... Generally you would go from Cable to Hydro though... And the YS1 is by far the best cable available... Using the SEARCH button helps aswell!

A newer YS1? That is the "BEST", and only cable B- Series tranny I would use on a B16...

As for Hydro, youre looking at a higher price, and then you have to convert from cable to hydro... All together to put in a hydro tranny in a stock cable style car, atleast 1K
