Default paint guys, my paintscratch.com spraybomb results

I do have professional spray history, first and formost. my father owned/operated a professional shop for 19 years and I was taught by him. however, at current, my living situation puts me in apartment land with a shitty *** 50gal 110v air compressor and no way to heat the garage properly so I've been reduced to finding "alternative" methods of trying to do stuff temporarily...thus I continue on with the post:::

I've been dabbling with this stuff for a few cars here and there where I would have bumper damage etc.

well, I'm to the point that I wanted to hang my door and rear bumper on my civic and actually, I'm thinking of painting the whole car this way since I can never get all the water out of my air compressor line.

anyway, as I've dabbled I've found a good mix for the base and clear. the clear that paintscratch has is WAYY too thin.

I've found that the standard duplicolor clearcoat goes on much thicker and nicer and you only need 1 to 2 coats unless you're doing a big bodypanel.

what do you think??

oh yeah, and I'm doing this in 50 degree weather lol.

did the cans come with the tip that puts out an oval spray pattern. you'll enjoy this thread:

I used:

1 - can Rustoleum Clean Metal Primer 7780
1 - can Bright Coat Metallic Finish Aluminum 7715
1 - Aerosol Spray Trigger
1 - Spray Can special tip from http://www.automotivetouchup.com can

My results:

My 96 hatch is Vogue Silver Metallic and as you can see it is an almost exact match. I was surprised at how close it was! I could not even find this color code at Pep Boys or Advance Auto in spray can form - only in the bottle with the brush applicator.

I am going back tomorrow to get 2 more cans to finish the lower side trim and rear license plate trim.

yeah, it came with the standard black colored tip and the red oval tip which has the bumps on the sides of the opening to spray in oval fashion. I used the red tip.

where can I get one of those gun adapters from?? I assume I can pick one up from home depot or something??

I read that paintcan thread a long time ago but I dont want to have to sand the hell out of something after painting it. I saw nice results though.

I looked on that website but couldnt find any special paint tips.

How tough is that clear coat? Whenever I use that stuff the clear is not very hard.

well, I already accidently dropped my cordless drill against the front inside portion and it didnt scratch it so I'd say it's pretty durable for what it is.
