paintscratch.com spraybomb base/clear results
I've been dabbling with this stuff for a few cars here and there where I would have bumper damage etc.
well, I'm to the point that I wanted to hang my door and rear bumper on my civic and actually, I'm thinking of painting the whole car this way since I can never get all the water out of my air compressor line.
anyway, as I've dabbled I've found a good mix for the base and clear. the clear that paintscratch has is WAYY too thin.
I've found that the standard duplicolor clearcoat goes on much thicker and nicer and you only need 1 to 2 coats unless you're doing a big bodypanel.
what do you think??
oh yeah, and I'm doing this in 50 degree weather lol.

naw, base coat is from paintscratch and the clear coat is from advance auto parts
I've used the paintscratch clear in the past and it just goes on WAYYY too thin. You end up using an entire can on one small body panel. the base coat goes much farther.
the duplicolor clear goes just as far and lays down a lot thicker and looks wetter in the end.
I'll get some better pics up tomorrow afternoon when I have better light.

looks cool for that stuff,
but imo large smooth curved surfaces like a door or body panel would be tough to get a nice even coat with a rattle can.
but if you can do it, ****, go for it!
i'm sure you've got more rattle canning skilz than most.

actually, its not that bad. it does lay down pretty evenly once you get the hang of it. as long as you do a smooth clean stroke the same as you would with a spraygun, then it turns out with the same results.
well, except for the paintscratch.com clear...that stuff sucks and I HIGHLY recommend using the duplicolor clear to get the smooth deep shine results that you see in normal paint.
And yes, after a wetsand and buff it feels just as smooth and shines just as much as normal 2stage paint.

yeah, I've always been using this stuff for my smaller jobs and I'm always completely satisfied. Especially since when I'm done my only cleanup involves inverting the can a few seconds to clean out the tip instead of running laquer thinner through my gun, etc...

lol, wish I could but I've sorta painted over it all haha.
the door was midori green. I sanded it down, prepped it, and then sprayed it. the front of the door is still midori green though so I guess I could get a picture of that??

first thing I used it on was a urethane bumper that had a cut in it that I repaired. looked just fine.

here's some daytime pics of it:
also threw in one of the fade line and you can see the original midori green on the middle.
