Koni sports/GC on a DC4
Im planning on getting koni sport yellows with ground control sleeves and strings. but approximately how low can i lower the car. im looking for about 1.5-2.5 drop depending on how i like it. can the konis handle an aggressive drop i guess is my question.
I don't know about the Koni sports but the Koni yellows can. I imagine all shocks can handle a slammed drop but it will decrease the life of them and your ride is going to be shitty due to no shock travel. If I were you I would get GC topmounts to extend shock travel by ~2in.

A 1.5 to 2.5 drop is nothing, and the Konis will be fine.

I thought the Koni Sports were the "Yellows" as we seem to call them. I think the "Reds" are Koni Specials or something like that.
And while I have the GC upper mounts, I really doubt that they are needed for such a mild drop. I was not able to get the front of the car higher than 6" to the front side jackpoints with the upper mounts (aprox 2 finger fender gap) without massively preloading the springs, which you don't really want to do. I believe thats about a 2" drop (its been some time sinec I've been at stock height to compare), and they might prevent him from being able to only lower 1.5" if desired. Though, the bumpstops that come with them are very nice, and can be purchased directly from GC.

yea i may just do the upper mounts just in case i ever really want to slam it. but it hink stock is about 3-4 finger gap. i dont really know cause my gap keeps on changing which is why i want to switch it out. thanks for the input and yes i believe koni sports are also called koni yellows
The red KONI Specials are made to be a performcnace with comfort shocks and are fine at stock to relatively limited drops. In a deeper drop, the spring rate will be higher so a KONI Sport will normally be the option of choice to go with a more aggressive spring in rate and drop.

When ordering GCC you have to tell them what shock you will be using them with, because i believe the collar or perch (not sure of the name) is designed differently.
For example, in the link below scroll down and you will see the application chart with a refrence code. So when ordering you have to pick the right GCC with the appropriate code, http://www.nolimitmotorsport.c....html

To the OP:
If your gonna lower over 2", then get a pair of top hats for the front of the car. You won't regret it. There is also a "shock fork trick" you can do that gives you the same effect for free...
