Default 2006 Honda Civic SI -- Dead Engine!

I have no experience in auto's so bare with me.

I was driving my car one morning and after 1 mile of highway drive (80MPH ) The car locks up onto shifting to 4th gear. I pull over and turn down the music and hear this clacking noise comming from the engine. At this point i didnt want to drive or turn on the car anymore so i called a tow truck. The man told me that there is no oil at all in the engine and that the car needs to be towed and fixed. I know i either need a new engine or my engine repaired/rebuilt. I was wondering if anyone knows what parts i need repaired because a new SI engine would cost me $5,000. And how much would it cost roughly to get this repaired? Any response will be appreciated.. Thank you..

BTW: there was a hole in the oil tank and i was basically riding the car with no oil for acouple days without knowing..

New from Honda:

K20 Block : 10002-RRB-A00 $2421.55
Z3 Head : 10003-RRB-A00 $2421.55

If Honda wont cover the motor under warranty I can hook you up with a better price but I highly doubt they'll deny your claim.

exhaust & lowering has no affect on your oil pan

UNLESS... it bottomed out &cracked which caused the leak due to the lowering.

You should be good as long as there's no evidence pointing that your exhaust, springs or negligence caused the problem (I don't think the springs/exhaust would be possible).

my car usually tells me 15% oil on the little status thing.. but i had just replaced the oil a week before the occurance and the oil still says 95%. life.. im not sure why it didnt come up when it leaked so much oil... The thing that i would of wished to look at while this happened was the temperature of the engine.

These cars have oil pressure lights, right?

It would have been on THE ENTIRE drive if you didn't have any/didn't have enough oil. Kinda hard to overlook something like that.

good thing you have no idea what the oiol meter actually does. the % that shows is the life left on the oil, not the amount left in the engine. you Oil light should have come on if you were low on oil.

Yep i think im definitly going to mention this part... and as for the tow guy being dumb... i doubt he was wrong because when he took off the cap to the engine oil thingy.. there was smoke comming out of it.. and the reason i know there is a hole in the tank is, when i tried to put oil back into the car the oil leaked from the bottom and i had to place a container under..

well.. there was no oil light that came on either...

thats what the check engine light is supposed 2 do it warns u when u`r low on oil...if it was malfunctioning u couldnt have known u needed oil in u`r motor so its not u`r fault...wich sounds 2 me like should be covered under the warranty

Usually by the time a low oil light comes on its too late. Thats why you should check your oil level every other time you fill up w/ gas. It wouldnt be a CEL either, it'd look like a little red oil tank.

The CEL doesnt come on when your oil life reaches 15% its the maitnence required light that comes on -- small yellow/orange wrench.

If the lowering of the vehicle ultimatley caused a damaged oil panyou'll have a hard time getting it repaired under warranty but if it was caused by anything else you'll be fine.

*waits for mag. warranty act people to begin argument *
