Default Problem with my 98 accord - please help

My accord drives but sometimes shuts off while on the road.. I pull over, try to start it... no power to the motor... then after 10-20 seconds it will run for another 2-3 weeks till it does this.. I think it does it more on hot days then cold days, but it has done it in both day and night...

I thought it was the main relay but I was wrong.. because after replacing it, it still does it.. I also replaced the distributor cap with a new one and that didn;t help either... Car has 140K miles, LX 5 speed

thanks for any advice

Did you have the ignition switch recall done yet?
Ask your local dealer to run a VIN status inquiry for you.

this was for a 98 accord LX 2 door 5 speed .... if your car is different then this then the part # might be different

Recalls expire? I didn't realize that, there is still an outstanding recall on my '99 LX for something in the fuel injection or something about the throttle, can't remember exactly. I just remember looking at what was being recalled and thinking "if it ain't broke, I don't want them messing with that area of the engine".

But the ignition switch recall, that one I did have done.

My car did something similar... except it never turned back on. Does anything else work (headlight alarm, radio, interior lights... ANYTHING), or is everything completely dead? When mine did this I replaced the ECM, which didn't do anything, then I replaced the coil and that fixed it completely...
Since the problem is intermittant, I would guess the ECM, but if they say the ignition switch already has a recall on it, that sounds like the best place to start.
