Default A little help please

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum.

I have a exhaust tech cat back exhaust. I just recently put a K&N typhoon cold air intake on my 2000 accord v6 lx coupe. I had that on for a little while and really like the gain in low end torque I had. Plus it sounded nice when the air filter kicked in. Recently I put some fourth gen megan stainless headers on. I find now that My low end torque has suffered and It seems I have less power. Also My exhaust does not sound as loud or as deep as it did before. It also gets that rattling tinny sound when I get on the gas hard, It never did this before and I have had my exhaust on for 6 years. When I floor it I used to really hear my air filter kick in, It no longer sounds as loud and agressive as before.

I was wondering, Is this is normal when putting headers on? By putting headers on did I sacrifice the small gains in low end torque for some high end gains? I left my stock gaskets on when I put the new headers on, Shoud I have put the new gaskets given to me on? someone told me to leave the stock ones on. If the stock gaskets were worn (120,000 miles on car) would this be the cause of my seeming loss in power on the low end?

If this is just an normal effect of putting headers on, what bolt on items can I buy to get my low end torque back? would a underdrive pulley set be a good investment for me? is unorthodox the best brand? I am not looking to race, I just want a car with a little more speed and low to mid range torque. Sorry for all the questions. Thank you for any and all help.

Adam

that's the thing with bolt on without tuning, you are only moving the power band around, sometime a bolt on will move power from low end to peak, sometime it will take away torque to make high end, etc.

what is the size of the headers btw?

pulley on old car could lead to more problem then good, plus you don't even race then it's totally not worth it if you ask me.

the thing you can benefit the most is have the car tuned with a vafc and a FPR, you put the car on dyno and have the tuner play around with timing and fuel curve according to your needs. you might pick up a few mpg too if the dude is really good
