Default Please help.....R won't start

So tonight I head out to hang with some friends, car was running well, I flipped the kill switch and left.

Got back to the R at 2 am flipped the kill switch to on....and went to start the R, it started and ran until I drove 15 feet, put it in nuetral to exit a driveway and the engine shuts off.

It was 21 degrees out tonight. I tried starting it again and it fired up and then shut off in about 2 second, then never wanted to start again. I took off the valve cover, the t-belt is tight, and it turns over, watched the PS belt to be sure the teeth didnt get ripped off at the crank. all is well. I can hear the pump prime and I can smell gas when I try to start it.

I did a bit of research and I am thinking maybe its a spark issue? Main relay maybe? Maybe the dizzy took a dump? I know ITB's can be a bitch when its super cold outside, but it still should start.

Does anyone have ideas?

loose ground?

also, I found this out the hard way one day and always wondered if anyone else noticed a similar issue. regarding the power wire that goes to the starter, for some reason if the nut that holds that wire on is too tight, my car wont start. its like the stud that the nut screws onto starts to turn if I snug the nut too tight and for whatever reason wont start unless I back that nut off some.

i've had trouble starting the car in EXTREME cold...like 8 degrees. check your plugs and see if they are fouled, you might have flooded the hell out of your engine. sometimes when i would have trouble getting the car started i would hold the throttle to the floor and start it...always seemed to do the trick. oh, about the main relay...i dont think you would be hearing the fuel pump prime if that went bad? check for spark too...thats an easy thing to do.

thanks guys I will be checking for spark, and playing with the starter a bit, but I don't think the starter is the problem because i have never touched anything on the starter and the engine was trying to start, just no spark is my guess.

I will check the plugs a little bit later today and report back. Thanks

good jorb, glad it was nothing serious. wonder why this happened though?? Id be concerned about that. what plugs are you using? dont say bosch plat 4's...

kinda interesting how your car wouldnt even idle or start with 2 bad plugs with ITBs, yet mine would start and even idle and drive (barely) with 2 burned valves and missing 2 entire electrodes on my spark plugs without ITBs.
