Default Installed my header now Im missing slightly.

ok cars been sitting for about a week or so. was waiting on the header to come in. but anyways header came bolted it up with new high flow cat. put my new o2 sensor in. started the car up and it shot shitloads of smoke out. and its missing slightly every now and then. anyone got ne ideas? it wasnt doing this b4. only think i can think of is the new o2 is reading wrong b/c all the smoke its blowing out. is that normal anyone else have a problem like this?

uhh are you sure that you didn't knock a spark plug wire off or something?

theres no reason changing a header or a bad o2 sensor even would do that....

does the exhaust smell like gas? if so its probly an o2 sensor problem...but you would get a CEL from that. double check everything you might have touched

nope the exhuast dosent smell funky. friend said it kinda tasted like metal. not like metal shards but like metal. clear fluid was spitting out every now and then but had no smell or taste. no cels. i took of the plugs and made sure they were connected nice and tight. when i last worked on it, it wasnt doing it we put the header and cat on and it began. theres no muffler on the car now.

So this is a new O2 sensor, not the one from before?

How does the car feel at WOT?

no my old sensor had a bad heater. i bought the ngk oem o2 sensor. at wot it making loud popping coming from the exhuast. i didnt know if that just from it being w/o a muffler. right now its ebay header ebay high flow cat oem resonator and 2.25 piping no muffler yet . but it pops loud out the exhuast at wot. if i slowly rev it up its sounds fine.

is your "high flow cat" a crappy ebay knockoff thats really a test pipe?? If so thats prolly why you got the shitload of black smoke.

ngk makes oem o2 sensors as well its their sister company called ntk. let me rephrase that. OE STYLE plug made my ngk. the high flow cat is a high flow cat. its pos ebay but its not just a test pipe. FPR and its vaccuum were hooked up prior didint touch them i will double check them in the morning. there was some ticking coming from the injectors. (normal? i dont know)

since its not an acutal high-flow cat...it probably dosent have enough of catalyst to heat the cat up...thats probably why its smokes....but just get a denso o2 sensor..thats what i got....

I would say wait until you get a muffler on there before you start jumping to conclusions. So with the header, no cat, no muffler you are running basically open header with a long pipe attached to it.

it didnt do this before because you had some back pressure from the cat. now you have basically none.

well as far as the cat. WhiteBB2 has the same cat as me on his car and his didn't do this. and as far as the muffler im going to buy one, but i dont c how the muffler will increase back pressure, but ima order one prolly today. so far today after work ima clean out my iacv and check my fpr and lines. and triple check all my plugs, solder my vtec wires and then test it again. should be ok to drive on?

I doubt its the muffler. It's not the o2 sensor. Vacuum is what I would check. IMO thats what would cause the "miss" feeling. Does it do it at idle or while driving? If while driving what RPM's?
