Platsic window on soft top just broke.
So yes i just got my S yesterday and was showing it to my friend and I put the top back for him to see. When it came down I heard something crunch. When I put the top back up the plastic window was cracked and spit all the way across. Awsome. Is this common or happened to anyone before? If so how much did it cost to get fixed.
Yes it was cold out. Didnt know I wanst suposed to then. I already dropped it off at the dealership. So all they have to do is replace the plastic right?
Yes, they can replace the plastic (and actually it is the plastic and a portion of the top around it...that section is partially held in by a zipper).
However, they will probably charge you to replace just that part as much as it would cost to convert your top to a later glass rear window top from Robbins (Cabrioworld).
BTW...spilt milk now...but it is in the owners manual: don't put the top down on a plastic windowed car in cold weather (think it is something like below 50F).

Well the dealership wanted to charge me $2200 to replace it with plastic. $300 for the plastic and $1900 for labor. They said it takes 14 hours to fix. So i called the guy I bought the car from and he has an upholstery guy that is going to order and install it for $400. Thank god theres still some reasonable people in the world.

14hrs might be right if they were replacing the whole top...and had never done it before!
I know a few who have replaced the entire top themselves with the Robbins glass window conversion in 8-12hrs. It is not a hard job, but it does take a lot of time.

That is really quick! Course the guys I know...one did it by himself and the others were at a group meet where about 4 of them were doing their tops at the same time.

when i did mine i replaced it myself. i have this thing where i dont like to pay people for stuff i can do myself. no one touches my cars except me. Paid 350 shipped for a 04 top. About 2 days on and off. Id say it was about 12 hours. so 14 hours by a professional haha that is wack as hell.

You had to swap the canvas from one frame to another? I would have gone with the new sliding bar frame.
