Skunk2 shifter question
My skunk2 dual bend came in today and when i was checking through everything i noticed that one bearing was really hard to move and the other one didn't move at all. Also, it came with the nut, bolt, 2 washers, one spacer, and 2 smaller spacers that look like they slide into the bearing to fill the gap between the bolt and the bearing. I tried to slide them in and they wouldn't go in. Am I dong something wrong or is there something wrong with those beaings and small spacers?
Anyone? I know a lot of you out there have one. I did a search, but nobody mentions these 2 pieces. Did anyone have problems with fitting the 2 spacers into the bearings? Does anyone have pictures of how they fit?
the spacers are to accommodate other cars, not just the integra. they should all not be needed.
the bearings will loosen over time. when i first put my shifter on my arm got a workout from shifting. now it has loosened up quite nicely. if it is way too tight, back off the nut some and it should be better. just don't go to loose or it will fall off and you can possibly be in some serious sh*t. goodluck.

Maybe because he's like me and hates the stock shifter. I hate the way stock Civic and Integra shifters feel. My autozone dual bend shifter (with bearings in the bottom) feels 100x better than stock, and I've been using it for 5 years now.
If it has bearings in the bottom that move properly, and you use the proper spacers, you can tighten the through-bolt as tight as you want to and it should not affect the movement of the shifter. That's the purpose of the bearings, to keep the shifter from binding up when you tighten that bolt.
As for the bearings not moving, I don't know about that. Maybe you should call up Skunk2 and see what they can tell you, if anything.

I put some wd-40 on the bearings and they're starting to loosen up. I bought the shifter because the ss my car came with snapped on me going into 3rd. I bought on efor 20 bucks thinking there was no big difference and it sucked. Everyone recommends skunk for the feel of it so i bought one. Thanks for the replies.

sorry to bring this back, but is it really worth the money to get a skunk2 shifter?
i'm not saying i should go out and buy those ebay special, but evasive motorsports have their version of shifter (dual bend) for just $35

when u installed it, did u notice a height difference at all?? i heard u dont notice one on the skunk2 dual bend. im lookin to order one soon but just wanted to know, thanks!
the difference is you could slam the expletive out of the s2 and it'll never ever break. strong as expletive. I wouldn't wanna be slammin a $35 shifter.
imho Skunk 2 short shifter > anything else. I really like mine and made a big difference. Shortened the shift alot. Didnt use all parts for install either, just grease it up really well too.
we got a skunk 2 shifter for my gfs dc2 and we love it..feels great.. didnt use all of ours either..those two pieces that go into the bearing on each side..are kinda hard to put in but they will go..and if it shifts way too tight..you can loosen it..but not too much
i have one in my g3, there isnt much difference in height at all. i dont really like that so i think i might cut it down a bit and rethread it of course.
bigd3154 those 2 smaller washers are supposed to be used, if u just use one of them the shifter is going to wobble alot, i figure that out at first u have to force both of the washers in, it might seem wrong to do but itll fit.
the shifter itself is awesome! it feels really precise especually if u get some polyurethane bushings to.

Skunk2 make very nice product indeed but i want everyone to read this first. I hope this might help understand more about short shifter! http://www.fastlineperformance.com/shifter.htm
it is shorter on top longer on bottom. is is a pivot thing! the shorter on top the less movement or the arm to and fro. the longer on bottom means less movement puts it into and out of gear.
did anyone else notice that the stock shifter has incredibly short throws for a stock car. It has the shortest throw of any car ive ever driven. It is possible though that mine is not a stock shifter, the kid did have some ricer clear corners and cheap ebay springs on it.

Those are two different shifters though, Assuming you have a DA.
If you compare the two when it's a dual bend, then there shouldn't be much difference in height.
