Default Bent Front Wheel..Now What??

I put the bike down a little hard and managed to bend the front wheel so that the tire wont keep air in it. I was browsing wheels, and my god they are so expensive. I dont really ride it to hard, but then again, have been told to stay away from wheels that were repaired.

My question is, where can I look for used wheels, if available online? Also, is it true I should not just take the wheel somewhere to have it fixed? Should I just fork over the dough for a new wheel? Thanks for your advice.

eBay...although you can get jacked. My brother bought a gsxr wheel that was claimed to be straight, but when he got it, he found out it was bent.

I browsed Ebay a little bit, just could not find anything. I am afraid I might just have to eat this one and stop setting wheelies down so hard.

What about just getting it repaired Backlash?

You put the bike hard enough to dent the front wheel? From a wheelie? I'd check the forks, triples, and the frame too (visual inspection).

How bad is the dent? I think you have three options:

1) Get the dent fixed (~$100 depending on the shop)
2) Buy a new/used one (~$100-500)
3) Leave it as is if the dent isn't too bad, and the tire still holds air.

Worst case scenario, you will just have to ride it everywhere while wheelying.

Ahh...I really missed that part on the "doesn't hold air." Man. My eyes are getting old.

I guess you'll just have to do #4 - wheelie that bitch everywhere!

Thanks for all the replies guys. I went ahead and just ordered the new wheel from Honda. 555$ later I am all set. The place I got it done didnt charge me for labor and gave me a free oil change. Not to shabby.

Also, they did a check of everything else and said it was good to go. I was very close to splurging for the carbon fiber wheels, but noone else would have gotten Christmas presents this year.

Maybe I should to learn how to wheelie correctly.

Carrozerrriaiaaifreia's are pretty cheap, relative to the mareschininininis and the CF wheels.

Sorry, i'm pretty shitty at spelling things in italian.

$555...ouch. but i guess peace of mind will cost you money.

Just be careful when you get that free oil change - some stealership-wrench-heads don't always torque everything down properly.

Seriously though, learn how to ride a wheelie or stop doing them. No good can come from bringing a bike down so hard. Even if it's not always hard enough to bend the rim there's a mass of unseen problems that can result in problems with the bike that could have fatal reprecussions.
