gc with agx is this a good combination?
i got a 90 civic sedan that i just started building i got 16" rota slipstreams with 205/40/16 azenis tires. i want to drop the car until it reaches the tire. i just want the car to ride smooth and not bouncy. also would i need a camber kit ?

A Honda that low will not ride smooth, as you will need very stiff springs to keep them off the bump stops. And those very stiff springs will probably kill AGX shocks. I suggest Koni Sport shocks.

I would not lower it more than 1.75", maybe 2" at the MOST on AGX's. But depending on the spring rates, it could be too stiff for the shocks no matter what the drop is.

the problem is not your shock choice. its how low you want to run.
use ground control coilovers with ground control extended top hats, then you can use any decent shock like agx, illuminas or yellows.

It's not just that, though. The shock has to be able to control the oscillations of a stiff spring rate. KYB GR-2's or Tokico Special (Blue) shocks, or OEM shocks, would not be up to the task, even with the extended top hats.

agx's will work fine with standard GC spring rates.
and of course, i recommend illuminas anyway.

buy the top hats from ground control. i think theyre like $100/pr now.
i think illuminas are a better value. i know ppl with agx, and GC, its fine. but i just like illuminas. theyre cheap over ebay.

i have the GC/kyb adj setup on my ej8...best bang for the buck, slammed it at first and it rode really nice, its been about a year and i recently raised my ride a bit, the shocks are still holding up well, but the ride quality isn't the same though. they still ride okay though...

stem diameter for illuminas is 10mm.
only koni yellows are 12mm.
you need an alignment when you change ride heights.
you dont need camber kits.

I prefer Konis simply because the Koni-specific Ground Control sleeves fit and work so well with the Koni snap rings on the shocks. The factory-style spring perches are not even used, and it's a much cleaner setup IMHO.
Assembled unit:

And Tyson is right, you won't need camber kits, but you will need an alignment where the toe is adjusted to factory specs (maybe even a touch more toe-in to compensate for slight inner tire wear).
But, if you ever adjust the height after the alignment, you'll need it aligned again. So get it where you want it beforehand and don't go changing it around all the time.

Exactly. People tend to worry too much about camber and not enough about toe settings. Excessive camber (over 3 degrees negative) will affect tire wear, but it won't affect it nearly as much as just a little too much toe. If your toe is more than about 1/8" total in or out, you'll see pretty quick tire wear.
Negative camber is good for these cars. Ignore that and fix the toe.
