electrical problems with my teg...
ive been having problems with my 2001 GSR. the first problem that started was that my parking brake light on my dash goes on and off. another problem thats been happening is that my car completely dies somehow and everything gets reset (clock, radio presets, radio clock, etc.). the last thing is the antenna. it doesnt go down anymore. i can hear the motor, but it doesnt retract.
i bought the car used and had it for about 6 months now, so i dont know exactly how the previous owner treated the car. one thing i did notice is that i believe he did something to make the signal blink faster. i have no idea why someone would want to do this, but i believe this can be the cause for the electrical problems.
can anyone help me out in trying to fix these issues? im not much of an electrician so im clueless on what i should do.

The signal blinking fast could be the result of a blown bulb. Check all of your parking light/signal bulbs and make sure they all light up and blink how they are supposed to.

1) Brake light is usually an indication of low brake fluid. If it's low, make sure you don't have a leak or that the brake pads are worn down too far. Just adding more fluid won't correct those problems.
2) Does the car crank normally in the morning after everything resets? If not, the battery is not holding a charge or getting discharged by some parasitic load overnight. Otherwise, check the battery cables for clean and firm connection at both ends.
3) Dirt/ice can cause the antenna to not retract. Or, the plastic cable inside the mast is broken.
4)Someone installed a "hyper" flasher. Totally rice. You can replace the flasher with an OEM type to restore normal flash rate.

the car seems to crank fine, but it went dead a few times while i was cranking and everything reset. after everything reset, i tried to crank the car again and there was nothing - the car went completely dead. after a minute, it cranked again fine.
i believe the cable inside is broken. do i just unscre the antenna to check? or do i pull it off?
is the hyper flasher something you have to "add" or did he mess with the car to get it hyper flash?

i also noticed that my dashboard is very DIM and its very dark in my car at night (yes, i turned up the light all the way).

you might want to check this. Also go to advance autoparts or something for them to test out your battery. To see if you got any juice left in that thing or not.
