So I was browsing Youtube for racing video's and I found this
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rLrwTDUWjYg
This guy has one sweet setup, full racing wheel, gear shifter, 3 pedal kit. All in his home, all he needs now is a 65" High Def TV (which I have).
So I started pricing the stuff out, looks like it will cost roughly $450-600 for the quality parts, then time to create some sort of table / stand to mount up to make it "feel" right.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this? what are the results? how do you like it? Which games are the best?
for some creativity and a sweet racing sim.

Logitech makes the GT25 IIRC, it's the new gated shifter, clutched setup. Will work with GTR2 and some of the newer games coming out. Personally, I love simulators. We run GTR with a 19" and 2 17" flat panels (for that surround view) at a friend of mines office. Full wheel and pedal set as well of course.

Sweet, I may have to look into this.
So the G25 comes with the wheel the pedals and this shifter?? how's the quality on the shifter and pedals?
And, this works for the PS2 and PC?
Hmm.. looks like I can get this for around $250. I'd still like to know the quality on these, and are these designed to be mounted on something? I'd probably build a stand out of it, and use one of those crappy gaming / racing seats designed for sitting on the floor.

logitech makes great stuff so i could only assume its top notch......... i have their gt4 wheel for ps2 and i love it..... have had it since it came out and have never had any issues at all with it
i can only assume it would work really well......... and honestly since i started playing with my wheel and pedals i will never go back to a controller its just way better to be able to have good pedal and steering modulation....... even on a video game

Now that they've gotten the gated shifter/clutch down... I'm waiting for some force feedback in the brake pedal!!! If they ever did that right, controllers would be a thing of the past.

Unfortunatly the xbox 360 only has a 2 pedal kit for automatics -- LAME!
and the shifter seems lame as well.
The best one for the money (by far) it seems is the Logitech G25, I just want to hear from someone who owns this as to how good the shifter and pedals are, and if they have mounting points on them so I can get em on some 2x4's or something to create a simulated chassis, lol.

Each separate piece is mountable in whatever location you'd like. That's why none of them are connected. FWIW you can still use the paddle shift like the old wheel for games that don't take advantage of the shifter/clutch setup. I'd suggest you go to http://www.logitech.com/index....11867 and read up on it a bit.

i think bbasso, brad, mickey and a few others have pics of the set-up........
Dave B you still have your set-up>?
Fun, but not the real thing....
slower then controller is down side, makes the games a lot of fun. IMO

I have this too but I never get a chance to play. I always wanted to build a seat setup infront of the tv. No time.

I read all that, but they're brief description about the "carpet grip" really doesn't tell me how easily I can mount it, and every best buy / game stop I've been to doesn't have one on display. I guess I'll just have to dive in and buy one.

I'd love to see the pics.

I think he means lap times will be slower. Ive always turned faster times with controller and so does everyone I know who has tried. BUT, its definitely more fun with the wheel and etc setup....and honestly if I had as many hours on a wheel setup as I do on controller it might be a different story.

found this one...
http://losangeles.craigslist.o....html
it seems like a good buy, haha I talked to them and was able to lower it down to $250...
I don't know though... I backed out because my place isn't that big and if I have this chair my cats would destroy the freaking chair.
I had a setup that was cool though before:
consisted of
dreamcast racing wheel
an old *** mitsubishi galant chair (junkyard crap, costed like $120)
and TOKYO EXTREME RACER!
I would do it again but I don't live at a bigger place.
alright I will shut up now...

If it's any consultation, the older Logitech wheel (the one that came out for GT4) was mountable as far as the wheel is concerned. I'm pretty sure that all three could be built into something for gaming.

you didn't see anything *waving hands in a circular motion*

I stopped reading at this line.
We’re only accepting cash due to cashier’s check and money order fraud.
Not somebody I'd like to do business with.

haha I dont know man... Craigslist is full of scammers and people who want to write checks that their money cant cash.
I remember I was selling my old RC car (finally got it traded here) and I swear I had a guy trying to send me some money order with an amount of $1000 something and all I had to do "supposedly" was take of what I needed and send it to his "associate". Since he was supposed to be out of state. Long story short... I don't blame the seller for only wanting something in cash. rather than being scammed by those in craig's lies.
Anyway back to the OP subject.
Anybody know what game that the guy on the video was playing? I have a 360 and would love to dream about something like this. *wishing wishing*
I should just settle for my bf2's logitech wingman joystick. Now that's fun.
