Default checking h22 timing...advanced or retarded too much?

Im a little confused on my timing. Right now my dizzy is retard all the way. I checked my timing on the flywheel and thiers a +white mark that appears above the notch on the block. Am I retarded too much, or advanced still? I need to have that white mark lined up with the notch in the block right?

On the obd2 h22a4 the timing is fixed ...correct ? Its only on the obd1 ludes where you can advance or retard timing by turning the distributor. Correct me if im wrong.

yeah on obd2 its ecu controlled but on obd1 you just loosen the 3 bolts on dizzy and turn it. toward you is retarding and away (toward firewall) is advancing.

Not to thread jack but i believe ur question was answered.

Let's say you believed your cam timing was off a tooth. Would turning the distro be a good way to test whether or not it will run better? Thanks...

no my answer isn't answered. Above the notch is retarded and below it is advanced?

if you believe your timing is off a tooth, you can check it with a timing light, if it is off, you won't be able to get the reading you want, even if you fully advance or retard the timing

I think the white mark is the TDC mark for the flywheel...IIRC its a red mark you are looking for...I could be wrong. But i'm pretty sure the white mark is for TDC

yea im pretty sure my timings off a tooth. I see no red mark at all. Just the white one. So I want to get the red mark in the notch not the white then? I ordered the manual belt conversion crap. I guess i'll just wait till that comes in and my friend helps me. Thanks everyone!

if you think your off a tooth that would be the timing belt...the dizzy is ignition timing adjusting that aint gunna get your tooth problem fixed. only way to do that is take that belt off and fix it.

you know that before adjusting timing you gotta jump the service connector, just like you would check for CELs. that keeps the computer from controlling ign timing. t belts off if youre doing that and still see no mark
