94 Honda Accord Problems
I am working on a 94 Honda Accord with a F22A1 motor (stock). The problem is the car will not start. The car turns over but wont fire up. I dont think the motor is getting gas so my first suspect is the fuel pump. I have no idea where the fuel pump on these things is. Can I get to it from under the back seat? Also I heard it could be the main relay however I think I can hear the fuel pump prime when I turn the key. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks... This is the first accord I have worked on so please excuse my limited knowledge.
haha this bugged the hell out of me. You're saying it starts then dies!! correct!!??
if not ignore all of the lines below.
Yeah you need to replace the Ignition Switch, Only the 97 Models were recalled for the replacement of the ignition switch. us pre 97ers are left to fend for ourselves. luckily this is easy to fix yourself.
Ok, here's the symptom test. Start the car but hold the key half way between the start and the on position, as in, don't let the key turn back after you have started the car.
If the paragraph above is correct, this is what you must do, luckily i took some pictures. just for unfortunate people like yourself.

This is an ignition switch, is underneath the plastic cover under your steering wheel, right where you stick the key in.

Ok now, all you need to do is unscrew the plastic cover, do not unscrew the tilt lever (i did and it will never be quite the same) anyways, something you must know is that the ignition switch comes apart, you need to pull it apart, and might feel like its going to break, but it will come apart. you need to remove the plastic clip first, see directions below.
pull the coils (metal) out of the plastic green harness. The new one should be a blue plastic, this is the old one. see below. (i don't have a picture of it apart)

its all plug and play.
1. Unscrew plastic covers from the steering column/area
2. Unplug the ignition switch (remove the clip)
3. Unscrew the ignition switch.
4. Do not try and pry to ignition switch out. (you will most likely injure yourself)
5. Pull the plastic tab of of the ignition switch

the little thin strip on top of the switch in the pic (where you see the two holes) this will allow you to pull the ignition switch apart. (the metal out of the plastic)
now it will be easy to remove. if you pull off the white part, you will see the metal contacts, and they will looked all burned and corroded, this is why your ignition switch won't work.
Next steps.
Take new ignition switch, pull off plastic tab, separate ignition switch, install one side then connect on the other side. (its too tight to stick it connected into the little space) after that. connect it, plug it in, screw it down (requires a small screw driver) put the plastic covers back, and you should be good to go. goodluck
Thanks for the right up but unfortunatlly it doesnt start at all so thats not the problem. Sorry if that was unclear. The car turns over, but wont start im gonna tear some stuff down tomorrow hopefully its something easy.
