Default question about requried roll cage after 11.49 or faster

Does it have to be welded in? or can it be a bolt on roll cage. how many points are required?

I know for a fact that it must be welded in, and I believe it's a min of 6pts, then 8pt, and anything faster than 9.99 must be 10pt min........

Make it a five point with a removeable or a swing out door bar.

ya, the pass door doesnt have to have a bar. and you can make a swingout, and unbolt it on non track days

anyone have a quick link to a good place that explains the ins and outs of building a proper cage? ive been reading alot of info about what kind of cage and what specifically i need to do in order to pass tech and it seems like there is a bunch of mixed info, and the nhra rulebook seems a bit vague...only planning on mid 10's and most likely over 135mph...sorry for the thread jack but i think it will help the OP as well...

If you dont plan on running events or racing every weekend then try running without one and see how strict the techs are. I went 10's all year without one this year.

well i went 11.43 and had the tech's waiting at my pit for me lol (i had been running 11.5's all night, that was the first time i went under 11.49)

on the new car i will have the cage installed first...i personally am just looking for mid 10's and most likely will be over 135mph (sfwd trim) so i know i need a main hoop, 2 forward bars (i will be doing swing outs) d bars coming off the main hoop and 2 rear bars that will follow the headliner and then drop down through the rear deck (4dr integra, still want to use my back seat) and then weld to a cross bar that is welded to the two strut towers...

does that make sense? and better yet is that legal? ive found all the info on the main hoop, d bars, and forward bars....my main concern is how to run the rear bars...and this is an 8 point cage...what bars are needed to make it 10? the forward bars that go through the dash?
