Default Pardon my ignorance. B18c redline

I did a search for that in this forum but got zero results. Hmmm. I don't trust the other forum sections so pardon was sounds like a newb question. Just what is the factory designated redline for the JDM B18c? I have seen conflicting info and hope someboy here can be more definitive. I know my now hurt motor made peak power at 8,800 based on a dyno sheet the prior owner gave me. I never put the car on a dyno. I know it ran strong for two years and several thousand mile before something went in the bottom end. Postmordum to occur soon.

I have Toda Spec B cams and Toda springs, hondata, etc. and when I put this thing back together over the winter, I want to know where I can "safely" run the engine relatively speeaking. I don't want to grenade the thing every season. Like I said it made it two years with no issuse before. The car see 5% street usuage (driving to the track) and 95% life above 6K revs. Thanks.

I dont know the answer to your question, but I can tell you that I run my motors to 8k on stock springs. Ive never had a problem. That being said, I would imagine you could rev "safetly" to 9k. Thats assuming the motor is properly built.

Now if your having bottom end failures, that could be a build issue.

or "operator error". I may have been a half quart low and coming down into the hairpin at Barbers which is downhill and off camber I might have oil starved a bearing. Maybe. It went about 3600 miles minimum at above 6,000 revs so I can't say too much.

Just for you guys to know about the Piston speeds that you reach with the B18C 87.2 mm crank.

B18C 9000 RPM 26.2 m/s
B16A 10000 RPM 25.8 m/s

I dont rev my own B18C more that 8800rpm.

stock JDM B18C rev to 8400.

your B18C with Toda B's and Toda springs should rev to 8600 no problem. I believe my bro rev's his to 8800 or 9000. but it doesnt make power up there. i think it peaks around 8400.

thats why i like an oil pressure guage and light. saved my bottom end many times with pump failures and low oil levels. baffles in the pan

jdm b18c you can safely ref to 9-9500. on a stock rod i would stay in the 9000 area. more reliable since its a track car and it sees high rpm alot.

Redline is 8400, rev limiter is 8500. At least that's what my ITR was when stock.

~8500-8600 on stock block head. That's the R version. I don't know if it is different for the GSR version.

I think that you should be fine with your Toda valvetrain.

John (Jadkar) was taking his to 8600 on stock valvetrain and supertech valves ( although he did shear a valve )

With Toda springs and spec B's a 8500-9000 limit will be fine, find out on the dyno where the power peaks and set the limiter some 100 rpms higher. My motor with Toda c's peaks at 8100, and is level until 8500 when it starts to drop off, so I set the limiter to 8800.

Thanks. Yes, I had just installed on the dash a Longacre mechanical gauge set up. After the Barber event (too late now) I was going to plumb the oil pressure sending unit and take off the oil pan to weld in a bung for the oil temp and tack weld the heel toe mugen knock off baffle in. I am afraid it was my error when I am usually pretty relegious on the oil levels. The dyno sheet I had on the motor had it making peak power at 8800. I was shifting bewteen 8800 and 9000.

They make adapter for the oil temp and pressure on the back of the black. It is a piece that goes b/w your oil filter and block.

I have one made by Greddy, works very well and makes installation very easy.
