Default water temp

okay i notice that the car gets to operating tempature.. when u turn the heat on for a good 30-45mins.. either full blast or not.. the tempature on the guage goes down to the blue line which is cold.. does it mean i need a new thermostat.. whats going on here... if u turn heat off than car tempature rises to operating temperature..

yeah mine does the same. Also mine takes forever to warm up. At 35 degree and a little bit of heat on it didn't warm up in a 30 min highway drive.

Does it take a long time to warm up? If it does I might suspect the thermostat.
I haven't had the time to change mine and find out but it is an easy repair.
Also keep in mind full blast for 30 mins is sucking a lot of heat so it might not be to unusual.
I'm not sure what else could be responsible for ill heat transfer but hopefully someone else can help you.

Thermostat is probably stuck open. That's better than stuck closed though (overheating).

my car needs a good 30-45 minute drive to get close to the 1/2 temp gauge place... now that the cold set in.

I don't know but that doesn't sound good. I mean if it doesn't heat up right doesn't that mean the oil might not be flowing properly?
Mine wasn't even heated up at the end of the 30 min drive though, it went up just a slight amount from the bottom.
