Default 1994 Accord Gas Leak Typical Area?

Hello All,
I have a 1994 Accord Ex that I just noticed a strong gas smell. Looked under the car today and noticed a small drip coming from under #27.

I haven't gotten a chance to remove the cover and see what the deal is, but are there any seals or parts in that area that have a tendency to go bad?

Tomorrow after work I plan on actually taking it apart to see what the deal is. Just wanted to see if anyone had a similar problem.

Thanks!

i have the same issue, On my 98 I have a mild wet stain in that area as well. One day I looked up under there. I found it was like a cover for the pipe that lead to the gas cap.

I took of the old clamp(#12) that connect the mid pipe(#11) I noticed the clamp on there was really rusted and storta lose. So i replaced with a basic clamp issue one fix with losing fuel pressure and the CEL problem.

after 3 weeks after that The light came back on and i still noticed the smell came back and the leak never left.

I got under the car and put a other new clamp beside the old one for tempery, I drove it around It held fuel pressure so far to this day..

but i still smell fuel,,cuz i never fully removed the old clamp and teighted the new one.

I would try to take of #27 of and get a set of new clamps for both ends, if all else fails replace the whole mid pipe to gas gap.

Ok.. So I had the chance to take a look at the leak. It seems like there is a pin hole in line that connects to #23. I believe this is the line that extends to the front of the car. I also think that this is a high pressure line being that it has the banjo fitting and all that.

So is there a way to patch up the line using a rubber hose and clamp? Or because it is on the pressure side that would make it dangerous?

I got some rubber hose and cut it into a "C" and hose clamped it around the pin hole. It seems to be holding but its only a matter of time until it leaks again. is there a more permanant solution short of replacing the whole hard line from front to back?

Thanks.

That is a very common spot for them to leak, I actually just finished changing mine a month or so ago, haha, and yes it is a pressure line, although if you get fuel injection hose(about $5/foot) and some good clamps, you should be good, thats all i did, i cut off the steel line past where the hole was, and then clamped on some hose, havnt had a problem yet.

ha look at that. a common defect. this car is also from a heavy snow region.

By chance do you know the size of the hose?

i.d. 3/8? 5/16?

Thanks

hmmm... no sorry, i cant think of what size it was off hand, if i had to guess i would say 5/16" though. and ill warn ya in advance, if your going to be dropping the tank, be careful with the bolts on the straps at the back, they break pretty easily, so if your doing it by impact rock it back and forth(go forwards, reverse, forwards, reverse etc) the bolts themselves dont break, but the nuts welded to the back will break loose and just sit there spinning. trust me, it sucks
