Default Track Day?

Im a avid reader of Road and Track, in this months issue they had an article about taking your car to a track day. They say all you need is a spec 2000 helmet and your car, and your set to go tear it up at the track all day long. My question is: has anyone here ever been to a track day or know anything about it? Is there maybe a website I can check out or something. I go to school up in Idaho but live in Colorado if anyone has some information to help me out. Thanks.

call NASA, they have HPDE almost everywhere in the USA.

yeah, there's alot of people like me that go have fun at the track every once a while.

a helmet(at least dot or SNELL) and a good running car is the minium requirement, loose items like junks, untie battery, leaking car, etc will not be permitted into the track.

the event is divided into different classes, from noobs to advanced driver.

i would recommend a set of more aggressive brake pad, fresh motor oil change and bleeded brake system before going. it will be hard on your car, but this is what a car guys do, not meeting up other accord driver at mall and talks about which JDM plates looks more jdm.

every event will have different rules but the basic is the same, oh, remember to bring something to jam the rear wheel after hot lap, you dont want to engage your rear brake before it's cooled down. To prevent runaway bring something to jam the rear wheel. unless you have an automatic of course.
flat bottem shoes helps, and bring a pair of sunglasses.

Sweet thanks man, so you usually do it quite a bit then? Other then messing up the alignment you have not damaged the car too bad?
