What is the difference between the F23A1 and F23A4 engines?
I am going to be swapping out the engine on my 2000 accord coupe due to piston ring leaks. I currently have the F23A4 engine and am wondering what the difference between the ULEV (F23A4) and the Non ULEV (F23A1).
After scouring over this forum for a similar question I have come to understand that there really isn't a difference. The ULEV is really just a seal of approvial from Honda. Am I correct in this assumption?
I have found numerous low mile engines from local junkyards that are for the right price. But I have found that the F23A1 engine seems to be eaiser to come by. Would using this engine in my car be acceptable?
Would this engine affect my current Engine Computer?
Would there be any other problems with this swap?
If anyone has any information please let me know. Thanks.

no it shouldnt make any difference.
F23A1- 150hp-152-lb-ft
F23A4- 148hp-150lb-ft
nothing serious. honestly idk the science behind the whole LEV rating system, i could care less about emissions.
im in north jersey, and i have a complete F23A1 engine and transmission for sale.
look at my signature. PM me if your interested.

As far as going into your car, it's OK. The ULEV has lower emmissions, a bit lower power, & I think it gets Honda some brownie points with California... ?
But I think the ULEV (F23A4) has different wiring for some sensors. So you may want to get a computer along with your F23A1. There may even be some pieces of the wiring harness that are different.
