Default 4.9 owners, chime in

When using a 4.928 final drive on a USDM ITR 4.400. Is the MPH accurate and/or within a small percentage from being off. Or is it WAY OFF?

Speed is the same, it changes your gearing ratios silly

It really wakes the car up. But it's by far not unbearable only an enjoyable improvement.

Never 1320'd and don't plan to so I'm not sure.

Seems it will depend more on the tire choice.

On the car's present 215/45/16's I wnet past a radar speed sign doing about an indicated 70 mph (on the speedo) and it said I was doing 66 mph.

I just ordered some 048's in 205/55/16 for these wheels to replace those Azenis.

yeah, only tires will affect your speedo...

I ordered the medium (not medium hard) compound.
Probably won't see much actual use till the new suspension is on the car and I get some track time in.
That being said, I probably will get in a couple "heat cycles" before I actually get to Summit Point/Mid Ohio/VIR.

Gearing and final drive do not change your speedometer. The OD of your tire does.

In my car a 4.71 FD took .3 off in the 1/4 over the stock 4.250, but the times run with the 4.71 were on a warmer and more humid day.

i'm not too sure but .. if you get different FD . the speedo will be off

my tech read 50 km/h but the actual speed was 45 km/h ( off police's device)

tire size was. 205/50/15. on stock rims

all tacho's are a little bit out, its the same with the rev counter. i shouldnt imagine the final drive would put the speedo out, after all, the car is only measuring at what rate the transmission is going round and translates it to speed onto your tacho.

when the '96 spec changed to the '98 spec in Japan and the FD was changed on those, i'm sure the speedo was left the same and the part number is identical.

someone please correct me if i am wrong, but thats the impression i've got

Agreed, the VSS is not affected by chaning the Final Drive; as mentioned above, different tire size height will affect your speedometer readings.

One thing I notice with my 4.9 is while in 5th gear I hit v-tacch at 98-99 mph according to the speedo. Something also I don't like, I have a Sony Ericson cell, and I can't hear **** while driving on the highway (anything over 60mph) w/ Azenis tires, Mugen intake, T1R exhaust.

I still say get it! I love it.

Talk to this guy: https://honda-tech.com/zerouser...04392

The one I used, his customer service rocks, his parts are forged (ATS' arent), lower priced, and you dont have to use the crappy JDM 1st gear.

You are the only one that promotes a different manufacturer, its been ATS for a long while. How long has this new manufacturer been out? Have you driven on the set-up yet? I know your car has been down for a bit...

Fitment is flawless and everything falls into place like it was meant to be. Gear-X manufacturers create products for the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) and we all know they have been around for a while.

I have driven the setup for only ~350 miles with no problems to date. However, KIWI has used this setup in his Honda Challenge car. Its been beaten to death and from what he tells me, it out lasted ATS and SRR.

The facts are there, lower priced, higher quality, customer service, track abused/tested. I am in no way affiliated with KIWI and did not receive a discount on his parts. I believe in what I purchased to be the best in the market. A racer selling to racers is what I like.

My 4.71 FD is SRR. I've had it in the car for a year now with lots of hell. No problems. MFactory's quality is better than SRR so results for the US FD should be great.

Anyone else whiney? Mine sounds like a quiet S/C crusing 1-3 (4/5 too loud to hear it), topping out 5th it whines like hell.
