****, been feeling like ive been saying its going to be done for hella long now. But this time im sure ill have my car back soon. Dont want to give away too much about the setup now, but ill upload some pictures to show the parts. The longest part about the build so far was getting it sleeved. Took over 3 months to get it back from the Golden Eagle machine shop. Its been a 5month build so far, but now we have all the parts to get everything going on the build...well, besides the clutch. But anyway here are some pictures of it. Im hoping for 500+hp to the crank.



















Some parts are still missing that we have. The AEM EMS is at the shop tucked away. And some other misc parts i have lying around, like: intercooler, piping, bov, ect

Lookin Good Keep us Updated!

 

My builder had a hard time getting it bored. We ended up sending it back to GE to get part of the boring process started, then sent it to another machine shop to get it finished.

 

i know the feeling how it feels like you are in a MONEY PIT lol and never have anything to show for it. good job on getting things together tho, wish i could do the same

 

so far so good on the build... but a few questions not hatin

1) why are you using a avc-r if your funning an aem unit?
2) why didnt you just have ge finish the job?

well finally all the money and no you something to show for it just be careful to who you show it to someone might get some sticky fingers all of a sudden!

not shabby. The manifold for sure will start to really hold you back on your expected power goals. Not saying you cant make big power, but they are a huge restriction. i know first hand from several friends with those.

 

To be honest, im not exactly sure why my builder chose to take the route he did with the machining. Im guessing it might have been slightly cheaper to get another machine shop to do the final hone process. Either way, i paid for parts and labor upfront so however he gets there is up to him.

As far as the reasons i want to use a seperate boost controler instead of using the built in controler with the AEM EMS are because its not as robust as the avc-r. With the aem built in controler, there is really no way to have dynamic boost setings in different gears, or pretty much any kind of control over boost functions without having a palm pilot/laptop connected to it. You could probably tune it to have a static boost level in each gear, but you would have to tune it on the streets for months to do that.

I wanted to keep my ac and powersteering so i opted for a log. Ive seen people making the power i want with that manifold, so as long as it works thats what ill use If i dont get there, then ill upgrade and sell it off.

shouldve said this earlier, thank you to all of those who checked this build out and the comments. And far as someone asking how long it was going to take and updates. Im probably looking at another couple of days for assembly, then i have to get a basemap for the motor, then break it in. Im still not sure about the basemap since my builder doesnt want to use a map from aem, we have to use his tuner to supply us with one to insure we have a garunteed start. So that might also take a couple of days. So all together im looking at about a week or so before i get the car back to break it in and about a month or so before the turbo gets in. I might just drive the hell outta it in a couple of weeks to break it in, then get the turbo installed sooner. So when i get the block back ill upload some pictures of it when its complete.

UPDATE: I was told the engine will be back by this friday at the latest. And then i can start breaking it in, and then turbo this bitch. Hopefully i dont blow up on the dyno!

AEM Boost control can be setup to be speed dependent using the VSS and a GM Boost Control Solenoid. To really take advantage of the AEM Software you are going to want to have a laptop connected to it during the times you are racing the car to monitor the system through logging, the AEM Logger Software is a very helpful tool. Once VSBC is dialed in it is VERY simple to adjust.

 

what's the bore size? is that a gt3037r turbo?

 

yeah its a gt3076r. All the engine specs are top secret but ill definately post some numbers once i get her back.

 

Got my baby back from the builder. It sounds really different, i cant exactly explain it. Only way i can somewhat explain the sound is modified. Its not deeper, or anything like that, its like the actual block makes a different noise then it used to. I kinda like it. Anyway, i put about 75miles on it, i have to get an oil change in about 125 more likes, then another at 1k miles. What oil does everyone use on new engine builds?

 

i notice you're in sac. who are you having do the build and tune?
