Best clutch for 400 whp daily/600 whp track
Lookin at the competition lineup of clutches...
not sure what else is good..
I have ACT HDSS in mine now and i love it... but its not gonna be much good to me anymore
need some opinions of people with this kind of power...
its a sleeved LS block, so bseries people chime in

i ran a cm twin disc on the street and track and does me fine...the petal engagment isn't too bad like the act hd clutch...the only odd/weird thing bout them twin disc is it'll make like a shattering/rattling noise but thats normal
I would probably have to agree, twin disc would be best... although pricey... it is the only thing probably going to hold big power reliably.
if you were not shoot for quite so much power, alot of people are saying good things about the ACT XX clutches... dont have one so I would not know personally but the torque rating on them in like 480 ft lbs of torque (which ACT is supposed to be pretty accurate on their ratings, unlike some companies).

Depends if you are running slicks or not...but you pretty much need to run a Twin.
Too bad they are sucky to drive.

You think so? I find pretty much no difficulties driving mine....I honestly think it's only slightly stiffer/touchier than my last Exedy Stage 2. A friend of mine want to learn how to drive stick, and she was hot (deciding factor..duuuuh
), so I decided to let her try her luck with my car. First time ever driving stick and she didn't even stall it. I was quite impressed to say the least.

I can drive twins fine, but I still wouldnt want to drive one in rushhour in chicago.
They aren't that bad for what they are...but it's no stocker...hah.

Im am in the same boat as you sir, my setup has taken me around 3yrs to complete and now that its coming close to being complete and I dont really want to wait for a twin. It will literally take me another 4 months atleast to save that kind of money. Im gonna try the ACT XTR6 or XXR6. I wont be going to the track too often and on the street at 400 whp it should do ok. I know the twin is definitely the better choice but $1200 ouch...
If you have the cash I would get the twin hands down. But if you are poor like me and dont want to use credit for any of your build then maybe the ACT will be better suited.

I always get that same question, and that's my answer. I just say they go from stage 1-5, and the twin is above the 5.

thats not true
thats not true
well its not necessary to run a twin disc but by using a single disc clutch, you'll burn it up quicker and wont last too long w/ that kind of hp..

+1....everyday. Very streetable, not a single problem (knock on wood) with about 20,000+ miles, 4 passes, and 50+ dyno pulls.

the petal engagment on my cm twin disc was just a tab stiffer than a stock but not my much...its not anything like the act hd clutch where its stiff as hell...
