It looks like it has a skunk 2 intake manifold and if you say that they head is stamped p72, I would say it is a gsr engine.

I just did. Also you can tell it used to have a vin plate on it so it is 100% a gsr engine because the jdm itr engine doesn't come with a vin plate and it is probably stolen as well.

Who you callin' a dud?

Did anyone think he was talking about snacks? I thought he was talking about a motor. I don't know about you, but I don't snack on car parts.

Oh, BTW, I'm not getting offensive, I'm being witty, you're the one taking offense.

B18C -- No help, could be an "R" engine or a GSR (either of which were of JDM origin).

The intake is aftermarket (as someone suggested), so even though it's of the "R" "typr", one can't tell the tupe of the engine by that either.

Valvecover -- those are easily changed, even if it was correct (red) previously.

Check the compression numbers and see id they correlate with a JDM ITR motor's (not sure what would be apprioriate/correct, but maybe ~ 220 psi after ~7 revolutions @ WOT).

One fairly sure sign would be to pop the valve cover and see if there are inner and outer vlave springs, but even then those could have been changed.

So frankly, the last check would be things like the crank.

However, even after considering all of the above, the P72 nomencalture on the head would seem to indicate its a JDM GSR.

I think all JDM trannies have the two rivet holes there with nothing in it

my money is on GSR with aftermarket IM. Why would someone use s2>ITR im and DC>JDM ITR header
