type r or gsr????
im not a nubi but im just more into h22s,, my homi has a motor and it is stamped b18c,, i know that it can be a type R or a GSR but it has p72 stamped on the head.. know here is the real question the jdm gsr has the intake like the usdm intake,, but this one looks like a type R,, what do you guys think.. here is some pic of it.

Well the **** is... the motor had a red valve cover and looked just like a type R.. so we thought it was an ITR but some *** hole told us that it was a gsr some other *** hole told us it was a type R now im all confused.. so if you cant give me a good answer, then don’t post jetydosa…….

I just did. Also you can tell it used to have a vin plate on it so it is 100% a gsr engine because the jdm itr engine doesn't come with a vin plate and it is probably stolen as well.

Who you callin' a dud?
Did anyone think he was talking about snacks? I thought he was talking about a motor. I don't know about you, but I don't snack on car parts.
Oh, BTW, I'm not getting offensive, I'm being witty, you're the one taking offense.

we bought the car with the motor the owner didn't know what he had.. we saw the red valve cover and the engine code. will type R we saw.. we bought the car (a eg) for $2500. After having it we saw all the detail..

B18C -- No help, could be an "R" engine or a GSR (either of which were of JDM origin).
The intake is aftermarket (as someone suggested), so even though it's of the "R" "typr", one can't tell the tupe of the engine by that either.
Valvecover -- those are easily changed, even if it was correct (red) previously.
Check the compression numbers and see id they correlate with a JDM ITR motor's (not sure what would be apprioriate/correct, but maybe ~ 220 psi after ~7 revolutions @ WOT).
One fairly sure sign would be to pop the valve cover and see if there are inner and outer vlave springs, but even then those could have been changed.
So frankly, the last check would be things like the crank.
However, even after considering all of the above, the P72 nomencalture on the head would seem to indicate its a JDM GSR.

my money is on GSR with aftermarket IM. Why would someone use s2>ITR im and DC>JDM ITR header
