Default Turkeybowl report - ReidSpeed Ford Probe with vid clip

hi guys!

finally got around to posting here since last weekend; the Turkeybowl races at Summit Point were great! i raced two races on sat and one on sunday. the car performed great both days; amongst the cars that normally run in our class, Andrew Z and i were among the fastest out there.

below please see clip (sorry it is a little dirty; google video seems to blur it a little):

this clip was from sunday's race.

by the time this weekend rolled around, i was totally out of R compound tires, so i was running a set of street tires. they were 215-45-16s (which is way too small for the Probe; i prefer to run 245-45-16 R comps, if i can get them cheap or free used). by the end of sat, i had used up the remainder of my race pads, so i decided to run a set of street brake pads, too (hawk hps).

the street tires i used were freebies (falkens) that i had picked up about 2 yrs ago. they were very worn and as you can see on the vid, the car was SUPER loose most places. it took all of my skill to hustle it around with it behaving like that. it was probably good practice, though, so that i can learn to drive a little bit faster and looser in the H1 car.....

about 2/3-3/4 of the way thru the race, i had gapped out on my two closest competitors (Andrew Z and a SM car), so i slowed down and tried to cool off the tires for a couple of laps. the two guys behind me were quickly catching up, so i stepped it back up a couple of notches to the finish.

the Turkeybowl is an awesome weekend; there was so much track time that i got sick of driving. andrew and i didn't even do the mini enduro at the end of the day on sunday. i was too tired and i just decided to load up and head out. the price was $275, and that included several hours of practice on friday (which i skipped). practice and two races on sat. practice and one race on sunday plus an enduro later in the day. in between our heats, we got to see the really cool vintage cars go out and do what they were built to do! all in all, it was one of the best weekends of the year for me (especially saturday's 16 lap race. the damn camera failed and wouldn't start, so no vids of it, but andrew Z and i had a knock down, drag out fight the entire 16 laps. i stayed ahead for 8 laps, and he got me in traffic. i was on his rear bumper trying to repass for the remainder of the race; super super close hard racing)

enjoy!
