Default Trouble selling my S2k

Hey all,

This is NOT a for sale ad!

I'm looking to sell my car, and I'm just curious why I might be having problems. I have it listed below blue book, and additionally it has the Honda Extended Care Warranty, OEM lip and spoiler, and upgraded speakers.

I haven't had a single offer yet, through craigslist san diego, la and o.c. Here on h-t either. I put it on auto trader today, but nothing yet there.

I've had it listed for almost two weeks on CL.

What gives? I know I'm not going to get blue book. It's obviously listed a little higher than what I'm looking for.

Just a mini-rant here, any thoughts?

If you're actually interested take it to PM please, I'm not trying to skirt the FS rules here.

Thanks,
James

S2K's are not holding their value well and selling well below blue book. Plus, there are too many for sale. Just search on autotrader and cars.com, you will see thats theres way too many out there.

maybe if it was black it would sell faster? sorry for not being any help...

autotrader should help. i don't think it will be out in the magazine till either tuesday or thursday. you should get some replies after that. cars that i've sold typically sold 1-2 weeks after being on autotrader if the price was good. you should also try s2ki.com even though you have to pay for a membership. good luck

There is an 06 S2k with 10k miles on s2ki going for $26,500. Sorry to say, but I think you need to drop your price a couple of thousand in order to get some bites.

Good luck with the sale, nonetheless.

S2ki seems to have pretty ridiculous deals up all the time. Too many people with too much money.

I know that the value to an S2000 enthusiast is lower than book, I'm just surprised at the lack of response from regular peeps.

Oh well, I'll keep on trying!

Try Washington's Craigslist. When I was selling mine, I got calls from WA like crazy. They have a high sales tax, so people go out of state to purchase.

Also, depending on which part of CA you're in, winter might be affecting the market, as well. Best luck.

I'm in San Diego, so winter doesn't really exist, but thanks for the suggestions. I will try Arizona maybe.

All of you mentioning that my price is a few thousand too high, you're ALL on the east coast. Since I grew up in Boston, I can attest to the fact that the prices for these cars is distinctly different coast to coast. It's 70 degrees and sunny today. If you can drive a S2k 364 days a year, it's worth a little more than in New England.

Thanks all, I think I'll just wait it out. I'm in no rush.

your selling the car in the wrong season, no one wants a convertable right now, the price is isn't off by much,

there's a lot of people who want a clean mint 02-03 ap1, especially if you have white, black,

I've seen a lot of 04-05 go for 23-25 but they have a **** load of miles and are beat up.

picked mine up for $18,000. 2001, 17500 miles w/ hardtop, front lip, side strakes, and spoiler. I thought i got a good deal, but after hearing some of the deals on here... i guess i got an average price.

I don't think it's the wrong season; it was a breezy 75 today.
