There is this stuff i have used before on my cylinder head. It's called "new cast". I know alot of cylinder head machine shops use it. it lasted about 2 years before I had to touch it up. It handled all of the heat my 500 hp B16 put out. good stuff
and it comes in a spray paint can

I used VHT silver caliper paint on my block, head and tranny. I painted it a year and half ago and there are absolutely no chips or flaking. The car is daily-driven too, even in the winter. The trick is getting the surface very clean and free of all oil, then only apply a light coat of paint, just enough to give it the silver color. It will look brand new and stay that way for a long time.

We used Duplicolor its call "Cast Coat Aluminum", we did this to a block and tranny about 2 years ago, and its still clean as hell, and hasn't peeled off at all. Surface prep, its the biggest thing, that and keeping **** off the block itself. My budy washes his bock every week I think...lol
