Default tire profile sizes

are there any disadvantages to using a 40 profile with 16" rims? for example 205/40/16? cuz i know most people use 45...

Default Re: tire profile sizes (sleepahGSR)

bumpier, harder ride, not much but a little.
also your speedo will be slightly too fast thats pretty much it
how come you want to go with 40's? id stick with 45's

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
195/55-15----- 4.2in -- 11.7in ----- 23.4in ------ 73.7in ----- 860------- 0.0%
205/40-16----- 3.2in -- 11.2in ----- 22.5in ------ 70.5in ----- 898------ -4.2%

basically when your going 60 mph according to your speedo, in actuality youll be going about 62.7 mph or
80 on your speedo, 83.6 in actuality

It would also give you kind of a ghetto look... rubber bands on normal sized wheels in huge wheel wells. Low profile only when you keep the overall profile up with +2,+3, or whatever you need. Not 16's unless you got "closed" panels b/c a drop will never be enough w/ a stock body
