How to fix speedometer?
I need help fixing the speed meeter. Sometimes it would work and other times it wouldnt. I dont know whether or not this is normal for Accords. I drive a 94 CD7 (accord lx coupe). Is there any possible way to manually fix this?
When the speedo drops out see if you can use cruise control; if the cruise won't work either, the fault usually lies with the VSS. If the cruise does work the fault lies in the speedo head.
In the speedo head there is a 'translator' that converts the digital pulse from the VSS to an analog signal for the speedo needle. So the best option on that is the salvage yard.
Do you have a check engine lite on? VSS fault should throw a code.

i tried putting on cruise and nothing seems to get any response. but how much would it cost me to get it fixed at a local shop? and how long might it take to fix? i could always go to the honda dealer, but i heard its illegal for them to fix broken speedometers.
VSS=?
And do you have a picture of how the translator looks like? Do i have to get the EXACT translator to replace it (like an exact 94 Accord LX coupe translator? or can i just get any 94-97)?

it's the speed sensor , I have the same problem. just don't have the money to spend on it to fix it.would rather spend the money on performance parts. LOL.
I think thats what hondadude means buy VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor
