Car came in with "no compression".
D15 in a 1994 DX, guy had a shop do a "head job", check out the 32 valve seal mod!!

You should find out the name of the shop that did that and give them a call. Seriously, that's terrible.

Hell yeah!!! Reminds me of a car that recently came into the shop, was missing thrust washers, the oil "o-ring" for the cam squirters and the piston actually move a little bit in the bore. It was rebuilt about 3k before it came to the shop.

 

i'm no mechanic and i know something looking at those pictures is desperately wrong, but can someone describe to me what exactly those little cup things are on top of the retainers which don't appear to fit properly?

well i think this is a bit misleading...

its not the fact that they are upside down...its the fact that they are ON TOP of the valvespring/retainer instead of DOWN around the valve guide...you know, where they SEAL THE VALVE.
