Default Finally got the Type-R back on the road

I havent driven the car since April 06 and it was bought in December 05. In a nutshell, I took the turbo off the car and sold it. I went back to NA this route. The ingredients are as follows:

micropolished LS crank
new LS rods
new USDM ITR pistons 81.25
stock head
GEAR-X final drive 4.928
Fidanza flywheel
welded oil squirter holes

The power band feels like it builds its peak torque around 5-6RPM and flat lines. Is this right? My motor is pretty much an LSVTEC in a VTEC block. Anybody have experience with this?

I have no clue I'm glad you got the car back on the road though What engine management are you running and who's gonna tune it?

curious in your parts choice?

money factor?

and why welded oil squirters....are they welded shut or welded into place?

This is common with forged pistons since the oil squirters are there to help cool the cast pistons and are not really needed with forged pistons. Since he's running OEM cast pistons, I don't why he would have gotten rid of the oil squirters. Higher oil pressure?

Original NEW LS rods from the dealership were nearly 100.00 piece which should automatically tell you money was not a factor. I wanted to build a motor using ALL stock components with the exception of GE cam gears. Tuning is done by Neptune.

Oil squirters were welded shut/closed because the counter weights from the crank shaft were making contact with it. We repositioned the oil squirter with clearance of only just a few millimeters. So, tony1 (T1 Race Development), suggested that they be welded instead of being used.

Back to the power band question.

Edit: My original ITR block, ITR crankshaft, ITR pistons are all in good working condition but its just laying aside for sale.

ITR crank = good for high revving
LS crank = good for torque, produces a little more peak torque than the ITR but its max comes MUCH sooner than ITR. With the 4.9, the car is much more driveable on the street now.

Nice build.

Wish my R had more torque, haha.
