Sick of seeing stolen Tegs
Seems like at least once a week there is another stolen car on here..
I was reading in one of my magazines and came across something I found interesting...
TunerTracker.com : GPS Vehicle Tracking and Recovery
From the Internet, Tracker maps the exact address, speed, and direction of a vehicle, anywhere, nationwide Tracker sends a notification by email or text message if....
the vechicles alarm is activated
it moves beyond its security ring
the vehicle exceeds a certain speed
the battery is low
Tracker can also disable and enable the starter or unlock the doors
Thats what the ad says.. just wondering what yall think about it

Too bad we can't booby trap our cars. That would put an end to theft really quick. And yes I know why we can't. Its merely a fantasy before someone goes off on me.
Doesn't sound bad, the question is how easily is it bypassed?

The more security the better chance you have of coming out of your house to find an integra in your driveway. It's all about layers. I have friends that laugh at the things I have to do before I can start my car, but I am happy to because I still have my car. The only thing I have left to do is buy a house so I can put it in the garage and no longer DD.
One of my bud has a GSR with lots of modifications, nice car and plenty of security+alarm (starter killer, alarm sound, clutch club, etc.) but that didnt stop people from stealing what they wanted.
Unfortunetly dudes who stoled it had hook-ups with a towing company; one day they just came and towed it away. The car has not been seen since.
And this was at a mall.

I have keyless entry and alarm so i always turn it off before i get to the car to even open the door. If we could booby trap our cars, I would have a c4 to blow it up in 20 secs of it being driven because of not turning off the alarm properly before driving. I rather have the car blown to peices than give theives free stuff IMO. But if they tow it...damn..thats all i got to say until they turn the car on...bwahahaha..

To the OP . i think we are all sick of it but there is nothing we can do. layers of security, safe parking spots and putting a trained german sheperd is all we can do nowadays. not really anyway to stop a tow truck . maybe im thinking parallel park somewhere close so the tow truck gotta take all those cars out before it can get to yours.

Exactly, I always read about towing but it seems so hard to believe that it happens. I'm not saying it doesn't but just blows your mind that people would actually go to such lengths to grab your stuff. I always wedge my car in somewhere thinking they would have to move a handful of cars to get to mine.
I don't even give my address out if I get an oil change or service done to my car. I also have friends and coworkers that think I'm crazy with the things I do to protect/take care of whats mine. Although these are the same people that have massive curb rash on each wheel, never wash their cars, and treat the inside like a trashcan.

you can't parallel park your car everywhere you go. theives will watch you until they have the right place and time to get the car.

yea towing cars blows my mind.. i cant even imagine actually doing that to someone.. but i just thought this was interesting and if it is some loser who breaks a window and drives off or some other unprofessional theft that at least you know where your car is.. and the fact they text it to you i thought was pretty cool.. but theives will get what they want i reckon
I had my car towed once, but it was back at my old apartment I used to live at. I moved in after the lease was signed,so they wouldn't give me a parking pass, but half the cars in the lot didn't have them, and nobody got towed,so I was scared. I was drunk and heard my alarm go off,by the time I stumbled out there,it was leaving the lot,I was so upset it got stolen. Basically they kept towing it b/c it was the loud "ricer" car with no pass, but everybody else could park with no pass, wtf!?
but yes, even with an alarm, and hood cable relocaton, and etc, that guy had my car on the back of his truck and gone in like...15 minutes...scary
I saw on TI.net this guy got a verizon cellphone, wich has some special tracking number on it, and wired it so it was always charging, and kept that number written down,so if it was stolen he could look it up with the phone. (didnt have to have service to use THAT tracking number)

anything electronic can be disabled. it does make it harder to steal, but it'd be a bad idea to get too reliant on it. this kind of stuff has been around for a long time, i can't think of the name of the one that used to be pretty popular here.

i rememeber seeing a thread about this not too long ago, i think it was in gdd. the idea is to wire up and hide an old cell phone in the car somewhere, and when the car gets stolen you call up the cell service provider and get them to track it for you. the problem is that most companies won't track phones for you that aren't on your service plan, and it'd suck to pay $40/month for another phone just to track your car. i think some companies will actually do it for phones not active on your plan, i don't remember which they were if any.

ahhh no..
1.not everyone is slammed to the ground ..truck truck guy can lay down and hook it. im guessing they would tow from the back cuz tow hook is right there and wouldnt matter if the car is slammed.
2.noise? f the noise . TOW TRUCKS. it looks like your car is getting repoed or towed cuz of where its parked etc reasons.

if it's drivable, it's towable. even if its not, its still towable. an experienced tow drive driver can tow anything.

my friends brother hooked me up with a tow truck job two summers ago. i worked there for 3 months and learned a lot about getting junkyard cars to slide up the flatbed real easy. they put grease or oil on the bed and cars slide up it like hot butter on a pan. usually it would get covered in oil from junker cars leaking fluids all over but sometimes we had to do it to get cars with bent suspension or frame damage to slide easier. the scariest thing is that people with tow trucks can hop your car using the winch( steel cable hooked to tow hooks) even with the ebrake and trans engaged without damaging it just enough to get your front tires on the bed. from there it basically just slides up and there off with your car. hope i didn't scare anyone but that **** is serious. try to park in places that a big truck wouldn't have any room to manuever. if the angle is wrong there is no way for a tow truck to get your car without seriously damaging it. sorry for the long rant.
