Default Meziere Electric WaterPumps

Pros/Cons ? We were talking about them in another thread I figured this might draw more attention, because I dont hear of many people running them.

less parasitic loss, isn't that what it's all about?
but what happens when something electronically shorts out? if it ever shorts out?

wouldnt it mean that you would need a different timing belt? or would that come with the pump?

They do offer one for the H22/H23..I've seen them on ebay and a few performance sites. It comes with a block-off plate for the water pump that has a pulley attached to it to replace the water pump.

Member 'XES' has used one but he rarely posts.

I'll see if I can find a pic...

Like hawkze said, they come with an idler pulley and a sealed block-off plate to replace the original pump....

There is no reason that the wiring would ever fail if installed correctly, unless something major happens to the car....as long as you make good connections and run the wires right you should have no problems....

Also keep in mind that this is more efficient cooling due to the fact that the pump runs at a constant speed always, no matter the speed of the engine.....

edit: After I read a little bit, it seems they have a 2-speed adjustment run by a switch....though the $350 pricetag is a bit steep....

supposedly they last over 3000 hours, that should be over 75000 miles for most drivers....

True that...contrary to what some think you actually drop the temp more from higher rpms than lower rpms if you are moving because it circulates the coolant.

Don't you install it on a radiator hose?

How does the thermostat still function if so?

i think you get rid of the stock thermostat and run it off a thermoswitch, when the temp gets high enough it kicks the pump on.

that can't be good, to have the water sitting still in the block until its heat radiates to the thermoswitch, around the cylinders it is going to get extremely hot before it gets circulated...

Is anyone running these on their daily driver? I have been wondering about that for years.
I did not know they were 2 speed. Do you happen to know what rpms those speeds resemble?

I have no idea as of yet, I'd like to figure out the whole speed/thermoswitch thing first....

Without a thermostat it will take forever to get the car warm enough for heat (and its cold out)....

take a look at this
http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com/race_wtrpmp.html

golden eagle makes one too....

to be honest i really dont pay attention to the gas milege thats what the hoopty's for but i will have to say that power has to gain being the car is running cooler and under hood temps are lower ,just for an idea if im cruzing on the highway in 50 degree temps the car will stay around 150 degrees =civic c&r half size rad ,meitzer pump, drilled thermostat, water wetter, and slim pusher fan

I don't think it would take any longer to warm up. The only reason you have a thermostat is to stop the flow of water through the radiator right to allow the car to warm up, and then cool off when it opens? Maybe your stock water pump is stirring things up, but when the thermostat is closed the waters really not moving anywhere. Assuming the thermoswitch is mounted in the head it should work just as good.
