Just finished a brake fluid flush
I've had my '03 for 3 1/2 years and put on a little over 50,000 miles. I finaly got around to doing the brake fluid flush and thought I'd share my observations with whoever is interested.
The old stuff had a brownish tinge to it, not the honey color of the new Honda DOT 3. I used a Mytyvac vacuum bleeder. I figured this would spare the brake MC from damage and allow me to do the job by myself. First, I pulled out what I could of the old fluid from the MC and refilled it with the new stuff. The front lines almost bled themselves by syphon action once I got the flow going. The rears required vacuum to keep the fluid moving.
I used only 2 12oz bottles of fluid to get the system flushed. After the flush, the pedal seemed to be just a hair firmer. I'm happy with the results and feel better that the old brown crap is out of there.
