Default d16 compression

I have a question for the d16 guys that are running all motor.

I'm planning on finishing my minime d16z6 this winter and I'm going to use the larger zc pistons hoping that i get a little more power with the compression. if i'm running 12 to 1 compression is there anything i should be careful about other then using the high octane gas?

I'm going to building a little z6. I already bought p29 pistons with rings, but I'm second guessing my piston choice for everyday driving. The p29 are going to put my compression around 11.8 with a apexi headgasket and getting the head resurfaced. They also have a very large doom on them which isn't good for flame travel or detonation. I might just look for some pm6 pistons which will have more user friendly compression on the street. I dont' want to run 93 octane in my beater.
