crx DX or Si?
a friend of mine told me that he would never buy a car with a sunroof because of the chassis twisting at high speeds. would it be wiser to go with a dx over an si? a sunroof shur is cool though.
(trinity since u have both dx and si, which do u prefer?)

Either car is fine. And you will probably never see speeds high enough to cause that much to force to twist the chassis like your friend is talking about. I prefer the Si because it is easier to do a motor swap with although it does have a higher curb weight than a dx.
rear disc brakes doesn't really improve braking...the front disc brakes does most if not all the stopping...just thought i'd let you know...if you don't already know
only thing to worry about with a sunroof, well actually two,and neither is cause of twisting chassis, because if your car is that fast and has that much power, which would be extreme, youll have a roll cage in it anyhow, stiffing up things, the two things are Water Leaks and the extra wieght it adds.
Si's only came with disc brakes in 1991. Insurance is quite a bit cheaper on the DX too. But the DX is a wiring mess, if you plan on doing a swap, which you should cause the 1.5 is pretty slow.

The primary problem with a sunroof is the extra weight. This weight is a problem because (1) it is up high, raising the center of mass, and (2) there is no really easy way to remove it if you don't want it there. In addition, sunroofs do leak and probably do decrease structural integrity. Although I am not sure how bad any chassis twisting resulting from this really is. As for whether you should get a car with a sunroof, this is something only you can decide. But I think that unless you consider a sunroof to be a MAJOR part of your driving pleasure, you would be better off without one. And I would take a DX over an SI. Not only are they lighter. But you can probably get one alot cheaper. And with the excpetion of the sunroof, anything on an SI can be bolted onto a DX.
get a SI or HF.
but i guess if you find a DX for cheep get that. hehe!
i have a 90 si, and that had rear disk, they came 90-91.
i love my SI, but teh HF is 1800 pounds, give or take,
and the SI if 2200 give or take, well they are both give.
SI's are pimp ****, as far as a crx goes. but if you
going full race, might as well get a HF. tehy are lighter.
DX they are not as light as a HF and not as dope as a SI.
hehe!
if i was you, i would tell your friend, he is dumb. get a HF,
and make it look like a si, and make it nice and clean. hehe.
really i dont think it matters.
i love my SI... if i had a HF or DX i woudl have sold it a long
time ago. and would have a 240, ae86, EG, or EF hatch[si].

buy neither buy a newer civic hatch and forget that old bullshit crap
screw 4th gen they can bite my nuts. there old and more of a pain in the *** to do a swap because of damn motor mounts just listen to me buy newer. you'd thank me for it later trust me and if you stay old 4 gen CrapRX **** buy si or hx **** dx
to much shittie wiring for motor swap si or hx much easier and faster

The twisting of the chassis should only occur when you taking a turn pretty hard, driving staight will not twist you car, I replaced the complete roof on my Si with a Honda OEM DX roof, cost about 235 then 400 to have it put in, looks like stock though
I know its not a good pic but hey,?

like everyone said swaping into a SI will be easier...and the 90-91 SIs come with rear disk brakes which are kinda cool...but from what a lot af people say dont do much more for braking...i personally dont like the sunroofs the si come with...plus i need the extra head room...have you thought about an HF???...

a test of a '89 Si w/ rear drums stopped at something like 142'
same 89 si w/ rear discs stopped at close to 151'
Of course, 5 stops later, the rear drum setup was at 160'+ with the rear discs at 165-170'
what does this say? the rear discs are good for fade.. that's it. These aren't ACTUAL numbers (since I can't remember the actual numbers when we tested them).
thanks for the tips guys. as for hx dx si, hell i'll take whatever comes my way
they all got certain features that make them individually tight.

PARTIALY TRUE.
Front brakes are responsible for most of the actuall stopping distance.
::BUT::
Rear brakes are VERY IMPORTANT as they control how stable the car is when the brakes are being applyed.
With big powerful fronts and little tiny rear's, the car is more likely to drift and be hard to control during hard braking.
A little more banance towards the rear brakes give's a more controled braking, and better overall control in turns as well.
plus disks in the rear makes pad changes quicker and easier!!
