OT: New Job (car-related)
A handful of you might already know this, but I've been working for Roadfly.com for the past few months.
Roadfly started as a BMW/Porsche forum, and has been steadily expanding over the past few years and making forays into blogging, road testing, and videos.
I started there as a staff writer, and have since become the site's director of content in addition to my writing duties. The site could be better-organized, and a lot of my articles are ghost-written at this point, but you can find some of my bylines under the Nissan Titan long-term test and the "car news" section. I put my last name in my sig, so you guys can just search for my stuff on the website. Even without the ghostwritten stuff, there's a fair amount in there.
Also, here's a link to my first video, on the 2007 BMW X5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpDr4e3gwoc
Enjoy.

Doesn't George normally ban people, or at least deduct points for even mentioning another site?
Or wouldn't the BMW/Porsche crowd be consideded "competition" for H-T?
In either case, congratulations Ross.
It sort of does explain some of your previous comments with respect to Brad's old car, etc.

Yeah, it is. I've done plenty of print stuff before, but never any video. So that was the first one...subsequent videos will probably have better voice-over, with a little more variation and more projection. I noticed the music drowned out the voice a few times.

Actually, Honda drives a lot of Roadfly's traffic. So I think it can only help the two communities to interact.
Plus, Roadfly's message board is set up in a completely different manner...I'm lost in those forums.

How so? I've always been an ITR elitist dedicated to the preservation of the breed.

LOL! Yeah, something like that.
Though I still think it's just another Honda (albeit a special one).

Nice video Ross.
My dad's trading his '06 4.3 X5 in for the new '07... I believe we're getting our new one in early December, I can't wait.
I think it's a definately improvement over the older body style. For the car being an SUV, it's DAMN fun to drive.

It's really a killer machine. The joystick shifter is nuts...although I wish they'd kept the manual tranny for '07.
I was wondering how they would make the new model better-looking than the old one, but they did. The rear end is even sexier now.
For my part, I want to see BMW stuff the M5 motor in the X5. They need something to compete with the ML63AMG, and the X5 only weighs like 200 lbs more than the M5/M6.

Ohh C'mon, I dug the look of the last model but this one looks more like a minivan, or maybe thats just what it looks like in the video? But I do like the glovebox, that is cool.

After comparing the two back-to-back, the old one looks scrawny. I never thought I'd say that.

I was stupidly lucky to stumble into this. But before everyone gets jealous, I'll state for the record that it is, for now, a freelance gig. No benefits, other than free gear, test drives, and the fact that talking to your boss about cars isn't considered goofing off.

Hey man - actually, I've been at Roadfly for a little bit. The job I told you about was probably the other writing job I'm applying for (which I can do concurrently with Roadfly if I wish). No word on that one yet.

Man, that would be something... My uncle's M5 absolutely rips, I love it, it does whatever you tell it to do, it's the perfect balance of EVERYTHING... Power, handling, torque, top end, aesthetics, comforts. It's the perfect machine in my eyes.
I can't even imagine M-Series performance in the X-Series... I want to see them do it with the X3.
