Default Swap + Auto-->Manual Guru's Step Inside!!!

Yes, I have searched...thats why I have completed the swap this far...

Car: 93 Civic EX auto (was)
Swap: obd1 b18b1, 5-spd gsr tranny

I have the engine in the car along with the pedals and the shifter harness looped. My question is which engine harness do I need to be using? I have three in my garage to choose from. Obd1 auto civic (orig. harness), Obd1 auto ls integra harness, and an Obd1 5-spd integra harness.

As I was looking to put the 5-spd engine harness in the car last night, I noticed that there were plugs on the drivers side of the car that, on the LS HARNESS, was on the passenger side. I know this sounds confusing but those who have completed this swap, please give me some info on what you did to complete the swap and conversion. TIA!

Yeah I think u should be able to use the stock harness, Since u don't have Vtec u don't have to cut and splice wires to wires it up, so u should have an easy time. Plus that way u wouldn't have to take the wiring harness out all the way from the ecu. Since both the engine and the current wiring harness are obd1 u shouldn't have a problem.

Did some Yahoo'ing to try and answer some other questions that I have about the auto--&gt;manual conversion. Looking to see if what I have stumbled across is valid information b/c alot of stuff in the archived threads on here lead to dead ends and pictures that no longer work...So here goes.

Looping the wires of the auto shifter plug:

Info from http://www.brokenlimits.com/ho...l.htm and I remember running across this a while back also...

The pic they show:

The text that goes with the pic:

"Wiring: On the shifter for the auto transmission, you will see a 14-wire plug. Cut the plug from the auto shifter assembly, and leave about 5 inches of wire.
Looking at the plug, the positions are (left to right) (top row) 14,13,12,11,10,9,8 and (bottom row) 7,6,5,4,3,2,1.

Starter (top) Sensor: There are two heavy gauge wires (position #11 and position #12). Connect these two wires to the top sensor (clutch interlock switch) on the clutch pedal assembly. This will only allow the car to start when the clutch pedal is engaged. In other words, every time you press the clutch you will close the circuit.

Cruise Control (bottom) Sensor: The bottom switch is your cruise control disable switch. Run two wires from the switch: connect one to the position #7 (black) and the other to #13 (pink). Every time you press the clutch pedal, the cruise control will disable.

Removing the Key: On the 14-wire plug, there is a black wire you will need to connect to a green wire with a white stripe. This puts the car in “park” so you can take the key out at any time.

Reverse Lights: Look at the plug you used on the engine wiring harness to hook up to your reverse sensor on the manual transmission. Run two wires from this switch to the yellow wire and a green wire with black stripe (positions 4 and 5) at the big plug that you cut off from the auto shifter. Now your reverse lights should work.
I have heard that if you replace your automatic ECU with a manual one, your reverse lights will work without extra wiring. This has yet to be proven or not (I am still using the auto ECU until next week)."

My concern right now is the starter sensor and the ability to remove the key from the ignition (tricking the car into thinking its in park). Are these the correct wires to loop in order to get this to work? I know that somebody on here knows or can atleast validate this question...

*New Findings*

Here is something else I found on the subject of wiring the auto shifter so that the car thinks that its in park in order to remove the key...I have heard some people talking about having to leave the plastic slider in the car and by some means making it stay in the park position...Others I have heard nothing about this. I ran across this site just a min ago and it talks about leaving the plastic slider in the car and in the park position...This info comes from this site http://tech.hybridgarage.com/t....html

Here is what it says...

"<u>Electrical</u>
Now the Automatic Specific facts. Remove the Automatic Gear Lever and toss it! There is a plastic slider underneath which is connected to the car's harness. This slider should be set to the PARK position and locked there by some means. The guys at the shop put a big blob of silicone sealant over mine. This is necessary if you plan to take your key out of the ignition after you drive!!..."

Can anyone confirm for me if you need to keep the slider piece in the car or can it be left out?
