Default K20 or B16/GSR?

Okay i'm sure this has been covered a half dozen times, but every setup is different ya kno?

The car-1994 Honda Del sol

The question-I'm selling a semi built, high compression ls/vtec at the moment. I'm wondering what i should do with the cash i get from it?

Do i build a boosted b16/gsr (probably b16) or do i purchase a k-series and save until i can afford boost?

This will be a weekend strip car as well as a daily driver once i get the motor in. I do realize for the price of the K20 i can get a mildly built b16 w/ boost. But all this buzz about the k20's is making me have a second guess....

The problem...
I'm looking into doing a RHD swap into this del sol. I've heard i may have problems fitting the k-series into the engine bay because of the brake booster? Any truth to this myth? Anyone done this setup before w/ pictures i could glance at?

$$$$$$
How much....(before you hate, keep reading) i know about all the parts i need and axles and all of that, i was just wondering if anyone has done this yet, what was the end total price of everything into the car running? Did you get any hook ups or what?

Please dont hate on me, if you think it's a stupid question, just click the little x at the top right (top left for mac) or the back button. I'm new to K's so i'm sorry if it's irritating or whatever. Oh, and if you're going to tell me to search, dont waste your time typing it.

Thank you for all the HELPFUL support...also posting up two-three word answers is fine, but if possible some reasoning behind it would be nice, not required, but nice. Thanks again!

I WOULD SAY THAT ITS UP TO ARE YOU ADDICTED TO BOOST

IF NOT I WOULD SAY THE K20 BUT LIKE YOU SAID I DONT KNOW IF THE SETUP WILL WORK WITH THE RHD CONVERSION YOU NEVER KNOW BUT WITH THE CASH ALMOST EVERYTHING IS POSSIABLE AND THAT WOULD BE A GREAT THING TO SEE

i was thinking about boosting the k20 EVENTUALLY. i can get really good deals on almost any turbo stuff i want, and i'm pretty handy with a welder so i think i could fab up most of the pipes i need...anyone have an estimated price tag for the swap w/o rhd conversion?

Your selling the LS for $2300 right? Im not sure $2300 is enough for either application. Then again with some hardcore searching it could happen. Ive seen K20 swap kits go for at least $4 to $6000

it's not like he said he only has 2300$ for a k swap and rhd conversion. if can find this thread someone is letting a k20 swap go for 3500$. let me see if i can find it.

Thats how it looks. Either way, $3500 for a K20 swap thats pretty damn low, did they give a reason for the low price?

if you're gonna turbo it, b series are cheaper and seem to hold up better (from all i read)

people have been boosting the b for years...if you're looking for reliability that's where i'd go.

if you want a six speed tranny and the ohhs and ahh's then go Kay.

rhd swaps are gay though.

boosted b will be a lot faster if done correctly

k-series is more baller status and more unique, untill next year when every car has a k-swap

I notice your posts are pretty devoid of knowledge for a shop owner.

I can't fathom why a K20 swap would not work with a RHD converted car. The K20 debuted in a RHD vehicle. A brake-booster issue is something that can be worked around by just extending and rerouting hoses.

also i was looking for a price for just the k no rhd. i know how much a front clip is gunna cost me. i just don't know about what alls needed for the k. but i found the answer. thanks though.

next question.
i read there's a bunch of different k20s and k24s which would handle boost best? i'm weary of the rsx motor with it's 11-1 compression or what not. saw the crv motor has what 8-1ish....which i think would be better off....suggestions? hints?

motor would be pushing t3/t4 turbo with around 10psi...more after internal build up....

thanks again for all your guys help so far.

ALSO
i was only doing the rhd to get the b16 and all the components needed under the hood. i found out it was cheaper to get the whole front clip for 2100 than to go out and buy individual pieces.....plus its going to be a winter project for me so it would keep me outta trouble...haha...anyways thanks so far for all the help...hope more is coming...

A K24 head and block with a K20A 6-speed with LSD would be quite a nice platform to go from. I'm not sure of how well it'd hold boost, being as I'm not sure how strong the sleeves and block are.

I say stay lhd because its a daily driver and well, we live in a country with ldh bias'd roads. But that's another story, you're asking about a motor.

If you can afford it, go with the K. The K is going to make good power and still be reliable. Sure with the money u spend on a K you can boost a bseries or even hseries but the K will be more reliable because it'll be basically stock. And you want to daily drive/weekend race. Why would you want to daily drive a 300whp low boost civic while sitting in traffic? Forget to tighten a bolt or one comes loose, intercooler leak, oil leak, what not, it won't be pretty.

The shop out here specializes in Kswaps but if I could afford one, I would.

It also comes in the TSX. K24s are pretty cheap. Good luck finding a k20a head, I hear they are hard to come by, especially below market value.

If he wants to have a stable DD boost, he should keep the k24 head.
