Default Valve adjustment question

while doing valve adjustment, i'm not sure if i aligned everything on the dot per cylinder... so lets say if i rotated too far and missed by one tooth, will that make a difference? what type of difference would it make?

thanks

It all depends on how far you were off. Take the feeler guage for instance, look how small/precise the clearance needs to be. IMO, take the vc off and re-do the adjustment.

I found that the marks on my cam gears don't exaclty equal TDC like it says in the Helms.
Now I just stick a long screwdriver down each cyl. and find it the old fashioned way...

i don't think you have to be right on the dot... just make sure you're on the round part of the cam ( before it becomes a lobe )

If you put something, like a long screwdriver, down the cylinder, then as you turn the engine over you will see it rise, and when it stops moving up, but before it begins to move down, then you are at TDC for that cylinder. Its more accurate than trusting the cam gear marks!

you take out a spark plug and put the long screwdriver in the hole... it will rest on top of the piston...
